The first page of the QuickFont Wizard is Select Font. Click the drop down menu by Font and you can scroll through the fonts installed in your Windows® system. Find and select Bell MT, a standard Windows 7® font. Notice the symbol for TrueType® in front of the font name. 5. In Style select Regular. Regular will make a font with stitches that appear as a regular typeset in wordprocessing. Bold will plump the letters (as if Bolded in wordprocessing software) and can be used to enhance stitch quality in thinner fonts. Italic slants, or italicizes, the font. Bold Italic is a combination of both characteristics. 6. Select Western 1 in Character Set. A note on Stitch Type: QuickFonts creates Letter Fonts based on the quality and style of the drawings in the original Windows® font. Windows® Fonts vary greatly in drawing quality, so some fonts will create smoother Satin stitches, while others may look better as Fill stitches or Applique, and some will not produce a nice font set in any Stitch Type due to the poor quality of the original Windows® Font. 5D™ Font Digitizing can be used to edit select letters in any font set, and in part of the complete 5D™ Embroidery System software. Joining Points Between Letters 53. Baseline connects letters at their bottom or base (unless a letter extends below the base. Baseline letters with jump stitch connections may be automatically trimmed on your embroidery machine if the finished design has added trims in Organizer or Stitch Editor Plus. Baseline lettering is the most commonly used style. ™ 54. Nearest Point fonts use special logic in 5D Embroidery to determine the best way to join characters together. Nearest Point is recommended for faster stitch out of small fonts, where connection stitches will be left untrimmed. Choose Running Connection on the Letter page of the control panel to avoid the need for trimming with small characters. 55. Continuous fonts are typically used to give a flowing handwriting effect for script. When continuous fonts are used for lettering, no space is added between the lowercase letters. (The Gap setting is not used.) Therefore, select Continuous for Script fonts where the lower case letters are joined. All other Continuous characters are connected the same way as baseline fonts.
