Southampton & Romsey CTC
Southampton and Romsey CTC is the local CTC
group for the area covering Southampton,
Romsey, Eastleigh, Chandlers Ford and
Waterside, and we regularly welcome riders from
outside this area. We offer a range of cycle rides
and also organise special events throughout the
year. We also campaign locally for better cycle
facilities.
Sunday rides have four different start points:
Redbridge, Romsey, Chilworth and West End,
with a 9am or earlier start time. We stop for midmorning coffee and then lunch in a country pub.
With a mid-afternoon tea stop we aim to return
home for 4-5pm. There is a half-day option for
those who prefer to be back home for lunch. We
usually cover 50-70 miles at a modest pace of
around 12 mph and again no-one gets left behind!

Joining a CTC ride
About our rides
Our rides range from short, easy rides suitable for
novice cyclists to more challenging rides that are
longer and faster.
We run regular Saturday and Sunday rides,
weekday evening rides in the summer and
Wednesday social night in the clubroom.
Some of our rides are combined with Winchester
CTC. Most rides are on-road but we occasionally
venture off-road, especially in the drier summer
months.
Saturday rides mostly start from Romsey and are
known locally as the ‘Hares and Tortoises cycle
group’. On the 1st Saturday of each month we
have an all-day ride which usually starts at 10am.
On the 3rd Saturday we have a “Tea ride” which
starts at 1.30pm from November to March and
2pm from April to October. The pace is a gentle 810mph and no-one gets left behind!
You do not have to be a member of CTC to come
on the rides. Feel free to come on three or four
rides and see if it works for you. After that we
encourage you to join as the benefits of
membership, particularly the insurance and
discounts, are well worth the subscription.
