Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the teaching position at Westwood Primary School.
Westwood Primary School is a bright, modern school with a fabulous outdoor learning
environment. Our children are from a wide range of social backgrounds and as a school we
work hard to promote tolerance, respect and positive attitudes to learning. A third of our
children have Special Educational needs and about a quarter of children are on the Gifted,
Able and Talented register. The school currently has 161 pupils on role and we expect a full
class of Reception children to start in September.
Our curriculum is designed to be engaging, challenging and fun! It is underpinned by a set
of non-negotiable curriculum principles which ensure a strong emphasis upon excellence
and quality learning outcomes. Visitors to school are always impressed by the high
standard of work on display and the calm, purposeful atmosphere evident in classes. We
also offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities which are often led by staff.
The school values the important role parents play in their child’s education and it is our aim
to continue to build upon this partnership. Staff work hard to promote positive home school
links and actively encourage parents to become fully involved with their child’s education.
However, the school does have a small number of families who are reluctant become
involved in school. The Foundation Stage Team have an important role to play in
establishing links and making new parents feel welcome so we will be looking for an
approachable, confident teacher who is able to strengthen our home-school links.
We are looking to appoint someone who shares our ideals, holds high expectations and will
work hard to give our youngest children the very best possible start.
Letters of application should be relevant, clear and concise, (no more than two sides of A4).
Visits to the school are very welcome. Please contact the Bursar, Mrs Sheila Clegg to
arrange an appointment.
Yours sincerely,
Julie Martin
