Website: www.yorkshirecb.com Office number: 01132 899245 Registered Co No 07421947 Yorkshire Cricket Board – Inclusion Rules 2017 Batting The batting side shall be divided into pairs, with each pair batting for 2 overs, with a new pair starting at the end of the second, fourth and sixth overs. Each batting team starts with a score of 200 runs. A batter may be out bowled, caught, run out, stumped, hit wicket. There is no LBW law unless the batter deliberately blocks the ball with a leg or foot. 2 runs will be awarded to the batting team for each wide ball and no-ball. If a wide ball or no ball is bowled – the batter will be able to strike the ball of a batting tee. Giving the batting team more chance to make contact with the ball and achieve a positive outcome. At the end of the first 2 overs, the first pair of batters retires and is replaced by the second pair until all 4 pairs have batted for 2 overs each. The second team then bats for 8 overs. Bowling and Fielding Each player on the fielding side must bowl 1 over. An over consists of 6 balls. Bowling will take place from one end only. If bowlers choose to bowl overarm they must bowl correctly ensuring their delivery arm is straight at all times. The bowler can choose to bowl under – arm The ball must bounce twice before reaching the batsman. Otherwise the umpire will reward a no-ball to the batting side and the ball will be struck off the batting tee. Players on the fielding side DO NOT need to rotate fielding positions. However, this is a good way of ensuring all the children are engaged. Except for the wicketkeeper, no fielder is allowed within 10 yards of the batter until the ball is hit. Scoring 6 runs will be scored if the back wall is struck without the ball bouncing. 4 runs will be scored if the back wall is struck with the ball bouncing. TO MAKE OUR COMPETITIONS MORE INCLUSIVE AND ENGAGING – NEW RULES HAVE BEEN DESIGNED WHICH ARE STATED BELOW. Rather than deduct 5 runs from the batters total. The bowling team will GAIN runs for a wicket. So no side will get below 200. Yorkshire Cricket Board ………………… YCB Office, Headingley Cricket Ground, Leeds LS6 3BU Directors: P Radcliffe (Chair), A V Pattison , A Watson (Exec), I Cotterhill, M Arthur, C West, J Hildreth, U Rafiq. Website: www.yorkshirecb.com Office number: 01132 899245 Registered Co No 07421947 If the ball hits the side walls or the roof – 1 run will be scored. If the batters run – 2 runs will be scored. If the ball hits the side wall AND the batters run – 3 runs will be scored FIELDING BONUS POINTS: - If the batsman is out caught = 4 runs added to the oppositions batting score. - If the batsman is bowled = 4 runs to the fielding side. - If the batsman is run out = 6 runs to the fielding side. - If the batsman is out stumped = 2 runs to the fielding side. - If the batsman hits his own wicket = 2 runs to the fielding side. So instead of deducting runs from the batting team – the fielding team gains runs. Example: Teams start from 200 Team A – Score 270 but lose 6 wickets. (3 caught, 2 bowled and 1 run out = 22 bonus runs) Team B start on 222 (200 + 22 bonus runs) Team B score a total of 310 but lose 5 wickets. (1 run out, 2 caught, 1 hit wicket and 1 bowled = 16 bonus runs) giving team A a total of 286 (270 + 16 bonus runs) Final Score: TEAM A – 286 TEAM B – 310 TEAM B WIN. This will reward good fielding, communication and skill. Also, it will promote high scoring games – perfect for inclusion festivals. The Result The team with the most runs… wins!! . In the event of a tie, the team taking more wickets will be the winner. If runs and wickets taken are level, then a “penalty shoot out” style bowl off will take place.
