LIFE SKILLS WORKERS NEEDED
Community Integration Services Society (CISS) has Casual Life Skills Worker positions available at their
Port Coquitlam location. Casual Life Skills Workers (LSW) must be able to work a minimum of 3
days/week at any of the two locations. The programs are open during the day anywhere from 8:00 am to
4:00 pm (closed all evenings, weekends & statutory holidays). * The programs support adults with
developmental disabilities of varying ages in community inclusion programs focusing on employment,
volunteer opportunities and physical, social and recreational activities. *
Qualifications include the following:
 related education
 work/volunteer experience
 current CPR/FA certificate
 WHMIS certificate
 valid driver's license
 driver's abstract – willing to obtain
 reliable vehicle with seating for more than 1 passenger
 business insurance with 2 million liability or willing to obtain
 computer skills and
 a good command of the English language.
Life Skills Worker must be able to:
 LSW must be skilled in supporting a wide variety of clients including those with behavioural







issues and mobility challenges (must be able to push/lift wheelchair or other mobility devices)
multiple days a week.
LSW must be able to support people with limited verbal communication with alternate
communication.
Program development skill including employment will be crucial.
LSW is expected to participate in all programs and activities, including skating, swimming, etc.
LSW will be required to support clients including travel to and from and supporting in the lower
mainland.
LSW will provide personal care as needed.
LSW must have the ability to develop and implement new programs
Ability to establish goals with measurable outcomes aligning with the clients' scheduled activities
