Formulations Manager, Plant Response Biotech S.L.
Plant Response Biotech S.L. is offering a position located at its headquarters in Madrid, Spain for a Formulations
Manager. Plant Response is an early stage agricultural biotechnology company and a global leader in plant innate
immunity/plant stress management. The company has a robust pipeline of new products and technologies addressing
stress and disease management in production agriculture.
Position Description:
- The Formulations manager position will be responsible for formulation and development of new product candidates
from the lab through final development and commercial sales.
- As a member of the R&D team, the Formulations Manager will oversee optimizing product formulation while also
considering associated usage issues such tank mix and other chemical interactions common to production agriculture.
This may include blending and usage with: adjuvants/surfactants, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides,
fertilizers/nutrients, blending in high and low pH environments, solubility issues etc.
-Additional formulation considerations associated with plant interaction such as foliar uptake, interaction in the soil,
overall efficacy and phytotoxicity will also have to be considered
-The position will design, prepare, and test new and improved formulations of individual components and complex
mixtures of biologicals products, including metabolites, extracts and microorganisms to improve plant or seed delivery
rates. Final formulation must also consider storage and usage issues such as shelf life, stability and photosensitivity
-The Formulations Manager will coordinate needed third party relationships such as manufacturers and tollers, as well
as third party researchers when needed.
Experience and Educational Requirements:
- University degree in Chemistry, Chemistry Analytical Science or equivalent; PhD is preferred.
- At least 5 – 10 years of applicable industry experience preferred.
- Practical experience in analytical science or physical chemistry and its applications in the research and -development of
new products for foliar, irrigation and seed treatment application would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of physical parameters and models required for the optimization of bioactive compounds. Experience with
biologicals would be desirable.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Approximately 20% travel will be required.

- Strong attention to detail and drive for continuous improvement as well as technical and operational excellence.
- Experience working in, or managing, collaborations with external partners
- A broad scientific network would be beneficial to access knowledge needed to solve complex formulation issues
