Consolidation during LS2 :
• Project approved:
• Refurbishment of the Booster TT2 cooling plant
• Refurbishment of the PS Central building
cooling plant
• Refurbishment of the PS Main magnet cooling
plant
• The connection of the TT2 cooling to the PS
central building plant is not included in the
consolidation program.
• A reasonable technical solution should be found
to supply TT2 (including the new power
converters in bldg. 269) by the PS circuit during
this YETS.
Cooling 2/2
• The central building cooling plant can’t take
the future needs for the PS (even without
the TT2) because of the 10 MHz cavities
and probably other requirements (new
beam dumps, new ionization profile
monitor and one additional magnet, new
vertical correctors,..)
• In the PS the diameters of the pipes are
already small compare to the actual flow. A
replacement of the distribution lines are not
included in the consolidation packages.
Ventilation TT2: Existing
• 4 air handling units only for thermal load.
• No smoke extraction, fresh air, ventilation
mode, etc..
• Air handling units replaced in 2001
• Chilled water coming from the ISR circuit.
• Consolidation have been postponed after
LS2
• The thermal load is low so the impact of a
chilled water failure does not have an
immediate effect. This allows in many cases
to repair before affecting the beam.
