Understand that tools and equipment have to be used safely. Provide opportunities for mark-making, drawing and writing, encouraging the development of a comfortable, effective pencil grip. Encourage the development of scissor and cutting skills. Begin to accept the needs of others, can take turns and share resources. Understand and cooperates with boundaries and routines. Can play in a group, extending and elaborating play ideas eg buildingup a play activity with other children. Be a positive role model, let your child see you reading a newspaper, magazine, book! Let them see you writing with a pen/pencil and paper, a shopping list, a birthday card. Prime: Communication and Language (CL) Class Nursery – Spring term At home: borrow a book from nursery, join and visit the library. Share a book: everyday, please. Achievements at home: write on a WOW sheet to share at nursery. Name recognition: learn to recognise their name from a selection of other names. Name writing: their name should start with a capital letter, then lower case letters.
