Nucleus
The nucleus can be found in both animal
and plant cells.
The nucleus controls all cell functions in
the cell.
Something that performs the same
function would be the brain of the human
body because it controls all things the
body does, like the nucleus. Another thing
that performs the same functions is the
principal of the school. I think this because
the principal makes all of the decisions of
a school and keeps it in shape, like the
nucleus does for a cell.
Nucleolus
The nucleolus could be found in both
animal and plant cells.
The nucleolus has a round structure and is
located in the nucleus of a cell. It is
involved in the formation of ribosome and
the site of protein synthesis.
Something that would perform the same
function as a nucleolus is a printer/copier
because it duplicates documents, like the
nucleolus duplicates and makes ribosome.
Cell Membrane
The cell membrane could be found in both
animal and plant cells.
In the cell, the cell membrane gives the
cell shape, holds the cytoplasm, and
controls what moves in and out of the cell.
Something that performs the same
function as a cell membrane would be a
cookie cutter. I think this because it gives
cookies their shape, like the cell
membrane does.
Cytoplasm
The cytoplasm can be found in both the
plant and animal cells.
In the cell, the cytoplasm is where
chemical reactions happens and it
stabilizes organelles
Something that performs the same
function as a cytoplasm would be the
ground. I think this because it keeps all of
the structures on top of it stable, like the
cytoplasm does for a cell.
Ribosome
The ribosome could be found in both the
animal and plant cells.
The main function of the ribosome is to
make protein for a cell.
Something performs the same function as
a ribosome is meat. I think this because,
like the ribosome, it helps give protein to
humans when they consume it.
Mitochondria
The mitochondria are found only in animal
cells.
In the cell, the mitochondria produce
energy.
Something that performs the same
function as mitochondria is a nuclear
power plant. I think this because it also
produces energy, like the mitochondria
does.
Vacuole
The vacuole can be found in both plant
and animal cells.
The vacuole is filled with liquid. It stores
food, water, minerals and waste
Something that performs the same
functions as a vacuole would be the
stomach. I think this because it stores
food and water, just like the vacuole.
Golgi Body
The Golgi body can be found in
both animal and plant cells.
In the cell, the Golgi body
surrounds cell molecules in
lipids so that they can be used in
the cell.
Something that performs the
same function as a Golgi Body is
a post office. I thin this because
a post office packages and
distributes goods, just like the
Golgi Body does.
Rough ER
The Rough ER can be found in both plant
and animal cells.
The Rough ER’s role in a cell is to
transport chemicals in the cell.
Something that performs the same
function as a Rough ER is a subway. I
think this because a subway transports
people, just like the Rough ER transports
chemicals through the cell.
Smooth ER
The Smooth ER can be found in both animal and
plant cells.
The Smooth ER‘s job in the cell is to synthesize
chemicals in a cell. It also stores steroids and ions.
Something that performs the same function as a
Smooth ER is a bank account. I think this because
the smooth ER stores steroids and ions, just like a
bank account stores money.
Lysosome
The lysosome can be found in only animal cells.
The lysosome’s duty in a cell is to break down
materials taken into the cell and old cell parts.
A decomposer is something that performs the
same function as a lysosome. I think this because
it helps break down dead plants and animals, just
like the lysosome breaks down cell materials.
Cell Wall
The cell wall is found in only plant cells.
In the cell, the cell wall provides support
and keeps its shape.
Something that has the same function as a
cell wall is a wall in a house. The wall in a
home helps support the foundation of the
house, just like a cell wall does for a cell.
Chloroplast
The chloroplast is found only in
plant cells.
The chloroplast conducts
photosynthesis and other
chemical reactions. It also
captures the sun energy and
contains a green pigment.
Something that performs the
same function as a chloroplast is
a greenhouse. I think this
because it also captures the
sun’s energy.
