Online retailers talk a good game
but the truth is as plain as
the noses on their faces.
For almost 20 years, online-only retailers
have claimed collecting sales taxes was
too complicated. Yet technology has
advanced over the past two decades
making collection much simpler and
less expensive. In fact, brick-and-mortar
stores nationwide collect sales taxes
every day.
We need a federal solution that reflects
the realities of the 21st Century.
The International Council of Shopping Centers believes it’s time
to close the multi-billion dollar tax loophole for online retailers.
The federal government should no longer play favorites.
