Hybrid green energy system
Energy becomes an important issue because of the prosperity of
the human being civilisation. Nowadays, energy conservation and
carbon reduction is not only a governmental policy but also morality
of daily life. Beside energy conservation, exploring new energy
source is a key option of overcoming the energy shortage problem.
However, new energy sourcing should not contradict the policy of
carbon reduction. We have developed a microgrid system which
can operate in parallel with the grid or in a standalone fashion. In
the system, solar energy and wind power work as the green source,
a diesel generator as the controllable source for emergency, and a
battery bank as energy storage. All modules are managed using an
energy management system which predicts the demand and the
generation of electricity and accordingly, trades with the grid.

Automatic control and systems engineering
A control system to a machinery or process is analogy to the brain
to a body. Facilities through adequate control can have high-quality
produce but low man power. The value of the facilities is hence
increased. However, the design of a control system is system
specific. It is engineering, an art. Appropriate control design
enhances the performance of the controlled facilities and reduces
material and energy consumption in production. The below example
shows the control of a flue gas processor of a refuse. A patented,
developed in house, control algorithm is implemented using PLC as
the core of a distributed control system for the flue gas processor.
Flue gas exhausts have qualities much better than the law under
the premise of energy conservation, consumable saving, and
manpower saving in fully automatic operation.

A one-keystroke engine start/stop controller with fault isolation for
motorcycles at idle speed
Specification
Motorcycles are the most popular vehicle used in Taiwan. The total
number counts to 15 million, among which 13 million equip with
carburettor engines. Exhaust from motorcycles is the major
contribution to the air pollution in urban area. The pollution becomes
obviously worse at a road cross with traffic light control. Hence, new
motorcycles are asked to have idle speed engine stop control as a
standard function. But this regulation is not imposed on the existing
motorcycles which are the major source of air pollution in urban
area. We have developed a one-keystroke engine start/stop
controller with fault isolation for motorcycles at idle speed. The
driver does not need to alter his/her drive habit or the operation
interface. At idle speed, the driver stops and afterwards starts the
engine with only one key stroke. The controller has fault proofing
function to isolate any mistake operation. This assures driving
safety. The controller has been tested on a SYM 125CC Wolf
motorcycle.

3D digital instruments and software with a fast and accuracy
process. The extracted CAD file can be analyzed by CAE software

3D Printing Technology
3D printing is a rapid prototyping process with three-dimensional
manufacturing technology. This is an Additive Layer Manufacturing
technology with a multi-layered printing. 3D printable models may
be created with a CAD package, reverse engineering or 3D
scanner. 3D scanning is a process of analyzing and collecting digital
data on the shape and appearance of a real object product. The
modeled geometric data for 3D computer graphics is a digital model
with manufacturing process. The 3D printer follows the
code-instructions to lay down successive layers of liquid or powder
materials to build the designed model from a series of cross
sections. These layers are joined or fused to create the final shape.
This technology can be applied in automobiles, construction,
medicine, and the special fields. Based on our excellent

A low-energy-consumption air-conditioned seat
With increasing environmental awareness in recent decades, the
need for energy-efficient and eco-friendly vehicles has emerged as
an important concern. However, in order to minimize the vehicle
weight and energy consumption, most existing small-scale electric
vehicles are not equipped with an air-conditioning system, and thus
user comfort is significantly reduced. Accordingly, the present study
proposes a novel air-conditioned seat system with a maximum
energy consumption of just 140 W. In the proposed system, cold air
is released from a mini air-conditioning unit placed behind the seat
and is circulated around an air-conditioned cover positioned around
the driver and attached to the seat by means of Velcro fasteners.
The thermal comfort and cool-down performance of the proposed
system are evaluated by means of experimental investigations. It is
shown that the thermal comfort index (PMV) of the seat has a value
in the range of -1 to +1 for four typical human metabolic rates.
Moreover, the results confirm that a stable temperature 8.5℃ lower
than the environmental temperature can be obtained within 10
minutes. Overall, the results suggest that the proposed system
provides a feasible air-conditioning solution for a variety of
small-scale vehicles, including personalized light electric vehicles,
engineering vehicles (e.g., fork-lift trucks), electric wheelchairs, and
so forth.

Compared to conventional pool boiling type heat exchangers (i.e.
flooded evaporators), jet impingement evaporators have two
advantages

A Study on the Application of Micro Transfer Imprinting Technology
Specification
The roller imprinting technology is one of the manufacturing
technologies used in rapid, progressive and mass production. It is
also frequently used in production of photoelectrical and information
system components, such as micro/nano optical display
components or the light guide plate of the display BLM (Backlight
Module), the diffusion film, and the LCD polarizer and the mass
production of major optical display components. This study
developed a micro transfer printing system using roller with
magnetic fluid bag and the printing technology to establish the
uniform printing mechanism based on bag roller filled with magnetic
fluids, in order to effectively control the production of imperfect
pattern structures in the replication process and carry out the high
fitness printing using the magnetic force. The processing
technology can effectively address the inability of rigid roller and gas
pressure imprinting to evenly distribute the roller pressure for
imprinting and provide higher imprinting efficiency, larger imprinting
contact area and effective imprinting contact time for progressive
mass production of components of micro-pattern structure to realize
the purpose of complete replication of micro-pattern structures.
