THE TWO RED X'S BLOCK
This pattern is provided for blockmakers of the ​
70,273 PROJECT
For each 9.5 X 12.5" block, cut:
WHITE:​
(1) STRIP ​

into:

RED​
: (1) STRIP 1" X WIDTH OF FABRIC
Then sew:
1. Cut the two white 5-1/2" squares in half
diagonally to produce four triangles.

along the long edge of the triangle, leaving about an
inch between them. Press seam toward the red strip.
3. Sew remaining two triangles along the
opposite edge, lining up the outside point.
Press seam toward the red strip
4. Trim corners of each block to square (hint: the 3/8"
mark on the ruler will touch the sides of the red strip).
If you look closely, you may be able to see that the sides of
the red strip line up with the 3/8" marks of the ruler.
5. Cut step 4 squares in half
diagonally, perpendicular to the red
strip.

7. Sew remaining two triangles to the red strip, carefully lining up the center
seams with those already attached. Press seam toward the red.
8. Trim corners as in step 4. Squares will measure ​

9. Sew the white 1" strip between the two
squares and press seam toward the white
(see photo, step 10).
10. Sew the two white 1-1/4" strips on
the ends (to the right and left of the
center strip added in step 9). Press
seams toward the white strips.
