ECKANKAR, Religion of the Light and Sound of God Inner Sound Current A Chela Publication for North Central Washington July - August - September 2015 NOTES AND UPDATES FROM THE LOCAL DIRECTOR By Julie Greenwood Can you see the beauty and still let your light shine even when it’s not pretty every day? Life has a way of challenging our most spiritual intentions and our state of consciousness. Sometimes we can manage to stay centered in the ECK and sometimes we may slip. Our Washington Regional Seminar was a wonderful event. I left there on Sunday in a very elevated state of awareness. The next morning I woke to find out that my oldest sister had translated during the night. Reality check. I had spent quality time with her before the World Wide Seminar last fall. Should I go, at great expense, to her funeral in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania? My inner guidance was clearly telling me to go. It wasn’t for her but for me and the rest of our family and friends. My contemplations revealed that if I was able to return to that state of love that I was in after the seminar, I would be working as an open channel for Divine Love. My grieving subsided somewhat and I was able to move forward with travel and work arrangements. I am so glad I did. I have realized that I was practicing what I received at the seminar – how to listen to and follow inner guidance, and how to be a part of the Mission Renewed. I declared myself an open channel for the Mahanta; I spoke of my sister as being an eternal soul, and had a couple of in-depth conversations on death. I took a copy of a book Sri Harold has recommended to my other sister because of her wish to believe that there was something more beyond death than what religion has said. I was able to leave a copy of the new book by Harold Klemp, Spiritual Wisdom on Life After Death, What Happens When We Die, with my brother-in-law because he believed that one chance was all we get and there was nothing else. But he was willing to look at it. I could have stayed home, grieving alone, feeling too overwhelmed from my duties at the seminar or by the expense and time. But with a change of focus to view the present moment as Soul, I was able to welcome the guidance of the Mahanta, and the opportunity and mission that had presented itself. I’m grateful that I am learning to consciously change my attitude more often and find the beauty that is present every day. Life is a spiritual exercise. You have to remember to calm down, to get yourself, Soul, back in control of the mind. That helps you think clearly enough to see what needs to be done. Then you can take care of the situation. Patience and composure are among the attributes of an ECK chela. What can you do to develop these two qualities in yourself? In contemplation ask the Inner Master what you can do to go slower. Once you’ve figured out this secret, you can be patient. You can let the storms of life blow over you while you think of a way to find shelter. One way is through surrender. Tonight, before you go to sleep, speak to the Mahanta. Say “I am a child of thine. Take me where you will, to show me the ways of Sugmad.” Soul—the spiritual principle, the creative spark of God— cannot work if you panic. Anxiety shuts down the creative centers. When you can’t think, whatever you try to do becomes one blunder piled upon another. If you slow down, the spiritual principle can begin working through you so that you can figure out the solution to the problem that is bothering you.” Sri Harold Klemp, The Spiritual Exercises of ECK , p. 129 INNER SOUND CURRENT Subscription Donations Accepted Suggested donation is $10.00 per year. One must first prove worthy of it to even receive it, and then he must test his partnership with this spiritual power in his everyday life. This self-testing shows the degree to which he is open to andthe guidance of the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master.” Sri Harold Klemp, Wisdom of the Heart, Book 3, p.227 Schedule of Events Videos on Public Access TV – Channel 98 in the Wenatchee area At noon and 5 pm every Monday 8 pm on Tuesday and Friday 6 pm Saturday and Sunday July - Just Keep Trying August - All In Good Time September - A Clear Message W – Wenatchee Community HU Song – 7:00 Every Wednesday Wenatchee Library Auditorium, 310 Douglas July 2015 Sun 5 6 Wed Tues 7 Thurs 12 13 14 Fri Sat 1 W 7pm HU Song T 6pm HU Song 2 3 4 8 W 7pm 9 10 Camp 11 Out 16 17 18 23 24 25 30 31 HU Song O 6:30 HU Song 15 W 7pm HU Song O 6:30 Book Study 19 20 21 22 W 7pm HU Song O 6:30 Book Study 26 Arahata Training will be held August through October at the Wenatchee Library Auditorium Details will follow. ** tentative dates Call Julie Greenwood for more info – 509-486-1045 Satsang will resume in November Mon 27 28 29 W 7pm HU Song O 6:30 Satsang August 2015 Sun Mon Tues Wed Thurs Fri Sat 1 E – Ephrata Public Book Discussions – title, location, and time to be announced.
