We are pleased to announce the
4th Annual
Purple Tie Affair
to be held at
the National Museum of Dance
in Saratoga Springs
Saturday • January 21st
7:00pm-midnight
The annual Purple Tie Affair has become a greatly anticipated post-holiday breakout event in Saratoga Springs! More
than 300 attendees gather each year, dancing to music from
The Accents Band, at the National Museum of Dance to support this worthy cause. In the past three years, A Purple
Tie Affair has provided more than $30,000 to both national and local cancer efforts. The Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society (dedicated to national and local cancer support and
treatments for the leading form of cancer among children) and
Nick’s Fight to be Healed Foundation (financially and emotionally supporting local children fighting cancer with services that
have a positive and direct impact).
A Purple Tie Affair is also intended to inform interested
companies about a 3-month team-building experience through
participation in the LLS Team in Training sports endurance
program. Through Team in Training, individuals or company
teams choose from a training program and event for walkers,
runners, cyclists, hikers, and triathletes. Team in Training is designed for both non-athletes and athletes, with a focus on team
building, team spirit, health and wellness. It’s a 3-month training/fundraising experience, culminating with a keystone event
that you and/or your colleagues will benefit from for years to
come. All proceeds from Team in Training also benefit the
fight against blood cancers.
With corporate sponsorship of A Purple Tie Affair, we
will provide great value, exposure and marketing opportunities
while demonstrating that you are a company with heart at this
very visible and well-attended event.

Team in Training
TNT is the world’s largest and most successful endurance sports training program that raises funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. It
started in New York City in 1988, when founder Bruce Cleland rallied a
team of friends and family to run the NYC Marathon in support of his
daughter, who had been diagnosed with leukemia. Bruce’s group, who
dubbed themselves Team In Training, raised $320,000 for The Leukemia
& Lymphoma Society that year. Today, over 540,000 participants have
completed a marathon, half marathon, triathlon, or cycling event and
have raised over $1.4 billion for our mission.
Our participants range from beginners to seasoned athletes who all have
a common goal: get motivated by the mission, get in shape, and get the
experience of a lifetime completing an endurance event! In exchange
for the program’s benefits, participants will raise funds for the Leukemia
& Lymphoma Society.

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is to cure
leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma; to improve
the quality of life of patients and their families.
LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to
blood cancer. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around
the world and provides free information and support services.
Our Key Priorities will ensure that the Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society helps blood cancer patients live better, longer lives.
Through research, patient services, public professional education;
and advocacy, we are able to give the communities within our
Upstate New York/Vermont chapter the support, resources, and
public voice that will lead to a cure not someday, but today.
As a nonprofit we rely on the generosity of individuals, corporations
and foundations. The money that the Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society (LLS) raises is used exclusively to fund our mission and
the vital need to find a cure for blood cancers. There is a constant
demand for additional funds to assist patients and their families
who are currently going through treatment. In addition, the
dramatic progress and forward momentum that LLS continues
to achieve year-after-year is made possible through the support
provided from individuals like you.
The need for additional funds is critical. An estimated 1,012,522
people in the United States are living with, or are in remission
from leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma or
myeloma. Approximately every four minutes, someone new is
diagnosed with blood cancer. Approximately every 10 minutes,
someone dies.
Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children,
adolescents and young adults under the age of 20. Lymphomas are
the most common blood cancers and incidence increases with age.
The survival rate for myeloma is only 41.1 percent. LLS is striving
to improve these statistics.
Nick’s Fight to be
Healed Foundation
The mission of Nick’s Fight to be Healed Foundation is to support
pediatric cancer patients as well as serve the young adult cancer
community. We strive to improve quality of life by promoting
well-being, reducing stress within the entire family, and providing
resources to help children with cancer lead fun and fulfilling lives.
This foundation reflects Nick’s values and personality. By helping
other patients with cancer, his spirit lives on.
