End of Key Stage 2 Tests Those children in Year 6 entered for SATs

We have 2 Science weeks this term:
Animals including Humans: identify and
Year 6
name the main parts of the human circulatory
system, and describe the functions of the
heart, blood vessels and blood.
Please feel free to speak to any of us at the end of each
day, or make an appointment.
History
Animal Classification: describe
how living things are classified into broad
groups according to common observable
characteristics and based on similarities and
differences, including micro-organisms, plants
and animals
Maths
Year 6 Teaching Staff this term: Mrs Caseley, Mrs
Noone & Mr Plunkett with Mrs Henderson for the 3 weeks
leading up to / including SATs
Literacy
We will continue learning about
WWII
We will be learning about various
aspects of life during WWII, with a
focus on the lives of children during
the war, particularly those
evacuated , and the impact of the
war on our city of Leicester.
Writing : linked to our History, Science and Geography
topics as well as to our local environment. Our writing
will include a persuasive booklet, a play, a story, a diary
and a science report.
Reading : a focus on non-fiction texts linked to our
topics. We will continue our class book, Goodnight Mr
Tom and children will be encouraged to read a lengthy
novel of their own choice set during WWII.
We will continue preparation for
SATs & teacher assessment.
Afterwards, Maths will be linked to
topics and be more investigative.
End of Key Stage 2 Tests
Those children in Year 6 entered for SATs will sit them the week beginning 8th May.
Monday 8th May: Reading
Tuesday 9th May: Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling
Wednesday 10th May: Maths Arithmetic and Reasoning 1
Thursday 11th May Maths Reasoning 2
There is no formal test for writing. Writing is completed over the year and assessed by the school & at LA moderation sessions.
Your child will be ready and well prepared for these tests. Please ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep, arrives at school on time ( or
attend Breakfast Club that week) and every day of the tests.
