Both Girls and Boys Track and Field Teams Win FML Title! 1985 was the last time Holly HS won both the girls' and boys' FML titles. The boys' team finished with a perfect 9-0 dual meet record and a first place finish at the league meet to own the title outright. Pacing the Bronchos with four league titles was senior Brendan Lagios. The girls' team lost to Oxford earlier this season and their dual meet season an 8-1 record. Had the Oxford girls won the meet, they would own the title outright. The Lady Bronchos, lead by freshman Mariah Ridal and senior Destinee Lukianoff, won the league meet and share the title with Oxford. The guys won 9 events and 1st place honors go to: Jonathon Beeler, high jump; Justin Gaumer, shot put; 3200 relay team of Lagios, Beeler, Cameron Moussavi and Davis Nixon; Josh Fiedor, pole vault; Brendan Lagios, 400 and 800; Andy Lipiec, 300 hurdles; Danny Gregory, 100; and 1600 relay team of Lipiec, Lagios, Robert Linson and Beeler. The girls won 6 events and 1st place honors go to: 3200 relay team of Lukinakoff, Rachel Deroucher, Breanna Konopitski and Amanda Garrison; Ridal, long jump, 100 and 200; 400 relay team of Keera Colson, Ridal, Renita Wingate and Maura Casey; and Lukinakoff, 800. Congratulations to the teams and coaching staff! Jonathon Beeler - Division I High Jump State Champ! Jonathon Beeler is now the MHSAA Division I state champion with a jump of 6'8". Earlier this season, Beeler broke the school record, set by Andy Ollie in 2006, with a jump of the same height (see photo). The Flint Journal / M-Live ran the following story... Holly junior Jonathon Beeler had to make two do-or-die jumps to win the high jump. He needed to clear 6 feet, 7 inches on his third and final attempt to stay in contention. Because Midland's Andrew Maxwell made 6-7 on his second jump, Beeler needed to clear 6-8 to win the title. Again, Beeler came through in his final opportunity to become only the second Holly state track and field champion in the last 27 years. "I felt a lot of pressure on me to make that jump," Beeler said. "I really wanted to win states and I did. It put a little bit more pressure on me. I was nervous coming into this. My coaches told me to relax and go into this with confidence." Congratulations Jonathon! Jonathon’s school record breaking leap of 6’8” earlier this season. Jonathon’s MHSAA state champion jump in East Kentwood on May 30th. MHSAA Regional Tennis Champions! FML Tennis Champions…27 years in a row!
