Ad 2) Approval of Minutes from 2 November 2016 the minutes were approved and can be put on the website. Ad 3) Approval of courses for 2017/2018 v/Costanza A) KA: IT and Cognition E17-kurser (E17 courses) Obligatoriske kurser (Compulsory courses): Language Processing 1 Cognitive Science 1 Scientific Programming Cognitive Science 3 Tilvalgskurser (elective courses) Specialization 2: Advanced Parsing Technology F18-kurser (F18 courses) Obligatoriske kurser (compulsory courses) Language Processing 2 Cognitive Science 2 B) BA-tilvalg IT og Sprog (BA electives) E17-kurser (E17 courses) Introduktion til Programmering F18-kurser (F18 courses) Introduktion til Sprogteknologi Informationssøgning Costanza informed that the adjustments to the IT and Cognition curriculum proposed by the students of the study board last year and concerning the re-exams have been approved. Notice that there are still more internal examiners at the written exams Cognitive Science 3 and Language Processing 2. The curriculum is here http://hum.ku.dk/uddannelser/aktuelle_studieordninger/it_cognition /it_cognition_msc.pdf Costanza has written to the students and teachers that the adjusted curriculum is on the internet and that they must be aware that the re-exam form has changed for some of the courses. The courses for 2017/2018 were approved. Ad 4) “Blok structure” IT and Cognition v/ Mai-Britt (student rep.) The students of IT and cognition are being “caught” between the so called “block structure” and the compulsory courses which are PAGE 2 OF 4 semester structured. This combination does not give any time off between fall and spring semester and it also places the exam period in the middle of the semester. It was proposed by the student representatives that all courses offered at IT & Cognition should follow a block structure. This would have several advantages: It would remove the issue of overlapping exam and teaching periods/assignment hand-ins. It would enable students from e.g. computer science to attend courses offered at NFI. This is desirable if we want IT & Cognition to get and maintain a good reputation among science students. It would be easier for students to plan their semester, more specifically which electives to choose. It would lower the risk of students having to take reexams due extraordinary high pressure during exam periods. The student representatives expressed their wish to change the structure of all the courses offered at IT & Cognition. Only changing the structure of some courses, would not help with the issues above - the two structures (block and semester) would still be overlapping. Ad 5) Information from the study administration Nothing new to report from the study administration since the last meeting. Ad 6) Information from student counselling v/Lina Nothing new to report from the student counselling since the last meeting. Ad 7) AOB Alex who is finalizing his master in IT and Cognition put forward a couple of inconsistencies that he had experienced during his time as a student. There is a disconnection between what is being advertised on the webpage and what you actually are being taught. And also the design and the structure of the courses could be looked at e.g. it would be sensible that the courses language processing 1-11 would build on each other. The same applies to Cognitive Science 1-111. It was decided to put the issue on the agenda for the next meeting. PAGE 3 OF 4 PAGE 4 OF 4 A request was put forward about the evaluations if they could be sent round to everybody, Sigrun will see to it that it is being done. Also it was decided to put the evaluation on the agenda for the next meeting. This was the last meeting for student representatives Alex and Sarah their effort has been very much appreciated.
