The Nicole Fitzsimons Foundation is delighted to invite you to a
wonderful day of golf and good company on the challenging Lakes Golf Course,
home of the Australian Golf Open for the last three years
and the venue of many an exciting tournament win.
About The Nicole Fitzsimons Foundation
Nicole Fitzsimons was an inspiring, talented dancer and devoted footy fan with an
infectious love of life. Anyone who was lucky enough to spend time with her was a
better person for the experience.
At twenty-four years young, Nicole was on the brink of achieving her dream as a
sports journalist with Channel 9, before her life was tragically taken in an accident
whilst holidaying in Thailand, October 2012.
The Nicole Fitzsimons Foundation has been established in her honour to
continue Nicole’s legacy of helping others fulfil their life aspirations – see nicolefitzsimonsfoundation.com
Funds raised by the Foundation are used to support its aim of making a
difference in the lives of others through:
• The intensive campaign of the Foundation to raise travel safety
awareness particiularly among young Australian tourists heading oveseas.
Nicole’s younger sister, Kate Fitzsimons, sacrificed her promising corporate career to dedicate herself to the Foundation on a full-time basis. Kate is
committed to the Foundation’s mission of bringing more Aussie tourists home safely into the arms of loved ones by delivering voluntary presentations to senior school students around Australia – no-one, no family deserves to needessly lose a loved one overseas.
Kate’s presentations are having a lasting impact on her audiences and what
makes her delivery so powerful is that she is speaking peer-to-peer with
students who relate to her on a personal level. Teachers say they have never
seen their students so captivated as she takes them on their own emotional
rollercoaster to change their attitude entirely regarding the dangers of their
behaviour whilst overseas.
• Honouring Nicole’s talent in dance and her love of sport, the Foundation
also assists talented performing artists and sportspeople who do not have
the financial support to achieve their goals or who may be overcoming
disadvantage or illness through performing art or sport.
Among those the Foundation has asssited are a talented young dancer whose
mother has terminal cancer, a young performer whose family lost their home in
the recent Brisbane floods and a young man who is a blind and deaf triathlete
and who has qualified to compete at the Paralympics in Rio De Janeiro during
2016.
