Game:Tasmanian Animal Memory Game Print two copies and place all cards upside down. Take it in turns to turn two over at a time, trying to get pairs. Game: What am I ? ‘What am I?’ is similar to the game of Celebrity Heads. The purpose of the game is to increase the understanding of Tasmanian animals, their adaptations, their food, their habitat, diversity and threats. To make: Fold in half (for sturdier cards include a piece of card) and laminate. They can be placed around children’s necks, hanging on their backs so they can’t see them. To do this – punch holes in the top corners and attach string. How to play: One student begins at the front of the class with the card on their back or so they can not see it. The student asks questions and the class answers them. When students are clear how to play, they each get a card and mill around asking other students questions. When they guess their own animal card, they can help others. Rules: 1. The student with the unknown card needs to gather information and build up a “picture” of their animal before trying to guess exactly what they have. 2. The questions must be one at a time and demand a YES, NO or I DON’T KNOW answer. 3. Only 3 guesses at their animal name are allowed. Examples of questions: Body form and function/ adaptation Do I have stronger back legs for bounding? Do I use my front limbs for climbing? Do I have wings? Do I have a long nose for smelling? Do I have a beak? Body covering Have I got fur? Have I got feathers? Have I got scales? Habitat and where I spend my time Do I live mostly in trees? Do I spend a lot of time in the sea? Do I like being in rivers? Can I be found in a Tasmanian coastal National Park? Colour Do I have black fur? Do I have spots for camouflage? Food Do I eat grass? Am I a meat eater/ carnivore? Do I eat moths? Common or rare Do you see me often in the bush? What causes problems for me?
