The Sermon on the Mount - Ipswich Vineyard Church

In step with the Spirit
“the gift of discernment”
1 Thessalonians 5
1 Thessalonians 5: 21
21‘...do
not quench the Spirit;
do not despise prophetic utterances,
but examine everything carefully;
hold fast to what is good.”
1 John 4: 1-3
‘1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit,
But test the spirits to see whether they are from God,
Because many false prophets have gone out
into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God:
every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come
in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not
confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the
antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming,
and now it is already in the world.’
Acts 13: 9 & 10
’9Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fixed his gaze on him
10 and said, “you who are full of deceit and fraud,
you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness,
will you not cease to make crooked the straight ways
of the Lord.”’
John 5: 36
“36But the testimony which I have is greater than the
testimony of John; for the works which the Father (God)
has given Me to accomplish- the very works that I do
testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me.”
Philippians 1: 9 & 10
“9...this I pray, that your love may abound still more
and more in real knowledge and discernment,
10 so that you may approve the things that are
excellent in order to be sincere and blameless until
the day of Christ having been filled with the fruit of
righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ,
to the glory and praise of God.”
Hebrews 4: 11-12
’10 For the one who has entered His rest
has himself also rested from his works, as God did
from His. 11 ...let us be diligent to enter that rest...’
‘12...the word of God is living and active and sharper
than any two-edged sword...and able to judge the
thoughts and intentions of the heart.’
