BMA is creating a learning garden! For a teacher, a garden is more than a beautiful place or a veggie patch. For Montessori it is a powerful learning tool, as critical to a student’s academic success as a computer or a microscope. A garden can provide an opportunity for students to participate in hands-on learning that teaches not only science but also math, reading, art, nutrition, agriculture, physical activity, behavior, responsibility, teamwork, and respect for nature, others, and themselves. Gardens have been proven to help students learn better and enhance test scores. Whether growing vegetables, fruits, or a variety of herbs, edible gardens are a valuable tool that schools can use to promote healthier eating habits. BMA student council beautification committee is starting an Herb Garden, a Veggie Patch and some Flower Beds! We made it a project where the whole school will participate in different ways, yes even toddlers! This is a perfect way to get parents involved and support the project. Please contact the office if you are interested in investing some time in our school and with your child. The student council provided a list of the different items needed. Donations would also be greatly appreciated! We will be collecting items from April 7th- 15th. We will be breaking ground on Friday April 8th at 9:00am .
