1- BRIEF SUMMARY
I have 19 years of experience in the area of Marine Biology and Oceanography, including the
specific areas of ecology in marine systems, plankton and microbiology. I have worked either
in Chile or abroad, doing research in different projects financed by National and International
grants. I carried out a post-doc at the University of Concepción in the Center of Oceanography
of the South Eastern Pacific (COPAS) and another post-doc in USA at the Smithsonian
Environmental Research Center (SERC). I currently work as an assistant professor at the
University of Valparaíso, doing research and teaching. The courses are related to
environmental science such as, Marine Chemistry, Applied Biochemistry and Environmental
Chemistry among other. Through my Doctorate I carried out a stay of 10 months at the
Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, Gothenburg, Sweden with a scholarship
given by the Swedish Institute. I have participated in several specialization courses and have
presented my research work in different meetings and workshops either national or
international I also have publications related with marine microbiology and ecology of
microplankton. Along my carrier I have participated in many national and international
oceanographic campaigns, and I have participated in field campaigns to Salar Huasco, 1st
region, Chile, having in general a broad experience on field and lab work.
