Mariemont Elementary
Baton Twirling
You will learn the magic of baton twirling from Jill Hippe,
a former University of Kentucky Majorette and the
University of Kentucky Wildcat Marching Band Majorette Coach from 1996 - 2005.
No previous twirling required.
We will show off our new talent with a dance twirl performance at the
Mariemont Elementary Talent Show on
Thursday, March 10th (3rd -6th Graders)
and Friday, March 11th (Kindergarten – 2nd Graders)!

CLASS DATES
We will begin the week of Jan 21st and
conclude instruction March 10th.
K thru 2nd Grade:
Thurs 3:25~4:10pm
3rd thru 6th Grade:
Thurs 4:15 – 5:00pm
*Mandatory dress rehearsal (tbd), and
Talent Show performance on March 10th
or 11th respectively.
COST
$115.00
plus $20 for baton if needed.
This includes baton instruction,
talent show choreography and costume.
New batons will be ordered
immediately after registration and
IS REQUIRED for those who have not
participated in my clinics.
*If baton is to be ordered, please follow these instructions for a proper length:
To measure, place the zero end of a yardstick in her underarm (armpit) and measure the distance
of her out-stretched arm to the tip of her longest finger.

Draw the tape directly around the back to the bust line center. Tip - Make sure the tape is parallel
going around the back to the front and not falling down past the shoulder blades in back.

Draw the tape around the narrowest section of the “natural” waistline .This is the area between the
belly button and the bottom of the rib cage.

Draw the tape around the thickest section of the rear end . This usually will fall in front of the crotch
when you come back to the front.

Stance should be straight up but shoulders relaxed, feet shoulder distance apart, toes straight ahead.
Start the tape at the top of the shoulder in the middle (where a bra strap would be) , take it past the
bust, thru the crotch back up to the same place on shoulder where you started and then press the
tape flat against the small of the back. Measure the right and left side noting the largest for the
measurement.
