It is also the perfect way to experience the adventure of flying at half the work and cost. Once you have a Sport Pilot License you can continue on and receive endorsements for flying into largercontrolled airports and airspace, flying faster airplanes, and you can even pursue your Private pilot license! -HOW TO GET STARTEDTalk to one of our Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs) and schedule an Introductory Flight. The Intro flight includes a half hour preflight session with one of our Certified Flight Instructors followed by a half hour flight with instructor in our CTSW Light Sport Airplane where you will get to try out your stick and rudder skills and take off! You’ll do some basic straight and level flight plus some turns to get a feel for the aircraft. Your instructor will help you land safely and you will get to log that flight time towards your pilot license if you decide to keep flying. STUDENT CERTIFICATE Once you do decide to pursue your Sport Pilot License you will need to get started on your student pilot application. The Sport Pilot Certificate does not require a medical exam like the other licenses, only a current valid driver’s license (if you do not have a DL you will need to acquire a medical certificate to fly). To apply for a student certificate you must create an account in IACRA, the FAA website for processing student pilot applications: https://iacra.faa.gov/IACRA/Default.aspx It can take up to 3 weeks for your student certificate to be mailed to you so you will want to get your application done right away! MEDICAL The Sport Pilot Certificate does not require a medical exam like the other licenses, only a current valid driver’s license but if you do not have a DL you will need to acquire a medical certificate to fly.
