ns for cranes
For unsupported lengths: Horizontal Guidelok up to 164 ft.
Especially for long travels on indoor applications, igus®
Guidelok is a cost-effective solution.
1. Debris and dirt cannot get lodged between upper and lower
run. Ideal for dusty environments
2. Modular system with few parts (also possible without side-
ways trough)
3. Increase of self-supporting length of Energy Chains®
4. Save energy with smaller Energy Chains® and self-supporting
rollers
l Smaller Energy Chains® for any given self supporting length
l Lower cost than most steel chains or sophisticated gliding
systems
l Open guide trough design, chips can fall through

How it works
The Energy Chain® is guided in the trough ...which snaps back out again after the
channel, pushing back the spring loaded Energy Chain® radius has passed.
roller support with its radius.
...the upper run then gets to lay on the
roller support.
Circular movements and RBR applications
RBR applications with a reverse bending radius have become an
industry standard. igus® supports this standard for cranes with RBR
Energy Chains®.
l For twisting crane applications
l Customized metal guide troughs and plates available
l Large range of accessories available
For circular movements: Energy Chains® with RBR

Guide troughs
Steel guide troughs
Guide troughs are used in long travels according to chain
type from 16.4 to 39.4 ft. They support the smooth, lowfriction operation of the igus® Energy Chain® and Energy
Tubes. The infeed point is at the center of the travel,
and the Energy Chain® glides by itself on one half of
the travel. For the other half, we recommend glide bars
mounted in the trough, on which the Energy Chain®
glides. igus® guide troughs have glide bars made of
extremely abrasion-resistant plastic igulen (exception
RS - gliding partner steel).
Steel guide trough - very stable and rugged for
heavy duty applications
If the igus® installation sets are used, the guide troughs
are particularly easy to assemble. All the steel guide
troughs are constructed according to the same basic
principle. All sizes use a common profile rail on which
the guide parts are assembled. The assembly brackets
used vary in height only.
l Easy assembly with installation set
l Big range, two piece design, adjustable to
Energy Chain® width
l Available in galvanized steel and stainless steel
l Glide bar made of PE

Snap-in trough system SP - simple and cost-effective
Economically priced, simple guide options
igus® snap-in trough systems are simple and favorably
priced options to safely guide Energy Chains®.
Recommended for less demanding applications and
applications with travel speeds below 6.56 ft/s, as well
as travel distances below 164 ft. The crucial advantage
of the igus® insert trough is the low price and the very
simple and fast installation.
l Smaller than conventional troughs
l Easy and fast assembly
l No sharp metal edges in the internal area because
of covered connectors
l Low price and easy to assemble

Rol E-Chain® 5050HD in super aluminum guide trough needs
75% less drive force.
