SPRING IS HERE!
We can say goodbye to Old Man
Winter once more as the sun starts
to remind us that we’ve got much
to look forward to. Time to forget
about shoveling, salt, sand and
wind chill for months. So ditch the
car scraper, dust off the BBQ and
get ready to tan (carefully of course
with the SPF 150 slathered on).
And to boot we have a huge
anniversary summer to celebrate
with Canada’s 150 on the agenda.
SENATORS
The team continues impress me as
they finish off the season with a
great march into the playoffs. All
year they have been better with the
new coaching system in place.
Kinda glad it’s Boston though I’d
love noting better than to see the
Blue team go down to ignominious
defeat. Almost all of our guys are
going to be healthy and ready to
play…and we’ll see what they are
made of. Maybe EK will be able to
put the team on his back for the
final push to the promised land.

THE POOL
With the amount of snow and rain
this winter my pool is really full –
just under the coping in fact and I
had left the water fairly low in late
fall. Probably yours will be in
pretty much the same state and this
is normal. It will mean for many
folks that the cover removal will
involve a lot of water-pump time to
get the tarp cover off. However if
you see that the water is low then
you could have a leak in the liner or

ENERGY NEWS
Is anyone in Ontario the least bit
concerned about the cost of their
Hydro bill? I think that maybe the
premier has been hearing some
concerns from the voters; and the
“silent majority” are not at all
indifferent. So when you are
looking at your consumption rates
you may be wondering what you
can do to cut costs?
Simply put, your pool pump is an
energy pig. The price tag in the
Ottawa area to run a normal 1 hp
pump will be north of $120 - each
month. Replacing that old-style
pump with a state of the art,
programmable, variable speed
pump can save 75% on that Hydro
bill. At first I was a bit skeptical
about the amount of energy
reduction one could expect….but
the math is fairly simple.
Energy Audit: we’ve been trained
on pool pump energy auditing and
can tell you what you are spending
now. – in case you are a bit
shocked by my 75% figure. For
$125 our team will go to your
home and do an on-site analysis on
your particular pump set-up so you
can see for yourself . If you decide
to purchase and have us install a
Pentair VS pump we’ll deduct the
OK – now that you are convinced
on the energy efficient pump and
though there’s a catch…..brace
yourself! If you get our electricity
from Ottawa Hydro you are eligible
for a $400 rebate. Purchase a
qualifying pump from us, have us
install it and you will get the rebate
directly from us on your install bill.
There’s no catch, it just gets better
with this rebate.
Unfortunately for those who are
serviced by Hydro One, no rebate
at this time but you still will save
big bucks on the running cost and
likely pay for the difference in the
efficient pump cost in the first
season.
