Water Reduction Initiative - West Cypress Hills

CYPRESS RANCH WCID NO. 1
Water Reduction Initiative
As the Central Texas drought continues, and approaches the drought of record mark, we must
all find ways to reduce water consumption.
In the summer months, outdoor watering can comprise 50% or more of the monthly water
usage. As such, we would all benefit from conservation efforts. To incentivize these efforts, the
CRWCID No. 1 Board of Directors has adopted the following rebate program.
Customers completing any 3 of the following projects in conjunction with an irrigation audit
from the LCRA, will be eligible for a $150.00 credit on their water bill, from CRWCID#1. All 3
items and irrigation audit must be completed in the calendar year. (i.e. Jan 1, 2014 – Dec 31,
2014). If prior improvements have already been performed within the current calendar year,
you may be eligible to claim those with a copy of a receipt and visual inspection.
Eligible water improvements include (but are not limited to):
1. Mulching beds – min 3 cubic yards
2. Aeration – entire front or back (if you do both you get credit for 1 item not 2)
3. Compost/top dress of yard – Min of 1.5 cubic yards
4. Xeriscaping – minimum of 100SF (replacement of vegetative areas with areas requiring
little or no irrigation)
5. Sprinkler Reduction via installation of 100SF of patio, deck, flower beds, or by
installation of water efficient sprinkler heads*, etc.
6. Prior Improvements already performed in the current calendar year, will qualify for the
rebate if meeting the criteria listed on the attached rebate application.
NOTE: Multiple installations of the same improvement will be counted as a single
project. For example, installing 400SF of xeriscaping qualifies as a single project.
*Sprinkler system retrofits that include pressure reducing spray heads, soil moisture sensors, or
rain sensors may be eligible for a separate rebate from the LCRA.
To obtain the credit, the customer shall submit the attached reimbursement form, along with
receipts and/ or pictures supporting the project. The customer will also need an irrigation audit
either documented by LCRA irrigation inspector, or a licensed irrigator.
Improvement claims will be verified by a representative from the CRWCID No. 1 via visual
inspection prior to approval of credit.
