Dear Parents/Carers
Year 2 – Wednesday 5th July (AI) - Felt Making at Fountains Abbey
Linked to our topic on ‘Mini beasts’, we have planned a visit to Fountains Abbey, Ripon on
Wednesday 5th July. We will be leaving school at approximately 9.15am and will return by
3.30pm.
The children will be involved in a number of hands on activities such as bug hunting. They will
then use what they have found as an inspiration in their felt making.
For the day, the children will need to:
* Wear a school top with either leggings, joggers or suitable trousers (NOT JEANS).
* Strong, sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring wellington boots in a named
plastic bag (just in case the grounds are boggy).
* Waterproof coat and sun hat (please put a healthy morning snack in the pocket).
* Packed lunch and drink in a disposable bag.
* Please apply sun cream before school if the weather is sunny.
It would be helpful for children to put the items listed in a small backpack. If required, children
need to take any necessary travel sickness remedies before they come to school.
Under the terms of the 1988 Education Act and the school’s policy on funding activities, we
would appreciate a contribution of £11.00 towards the cost of the visit. Parents who are in
receipt of benefits (Income Support, Income-Based jobseeker’s Allowance or Child Tax Credit
with an income of less than £16,190 and not receiving Working Tax Credit) will not be expected
to pay the full amount. If you feel you can make a donation, no matter how small, please do.
This covers the cost of the coach, entrance fee and a full day of activities.
Unfortunately, if not enough contributions are received, the visit will be unable to go ahead.
Please use ParentPay to make payment and give consent by Tuesday 27th June.
As always, our visits are not possible without your help and we need approximately 5 parent
helpers. If you are able to accompany us on the day, please let your class teacher know.
