Action Scores Theme Next Steps Information: Holly Beavitt –Pike (LDNPA) gave an update on projects in Ullswater: Hallin Fell, Hodgson Hill and Greenside Mine. 1 More information on Ullswater heritage needs to be gathered and made available to residents and visitors. Information: Rob Allison (LDNPA) gave a brief overview of Housing policies in the park: 2 We are required to produce a Local Plan (previously termed a LDF) Core Strategy was adopted in 2010 which outlines our planning policies including requirements for housing. The purpose of the housing policy in the core strategy is to meet locally identified needs in suitable locations. Since the adoption of the core strategy, in the East DA, 21 houses have been granted planning permission which includes 6 agricultural workers dwellings, 14 local occupancy dwellings, but 0 affordable dwellings. From the most recent housing needs surveys they indicate there is an outstanding need for 24 affordable units. To try and bring forward sites where affordable housing could be constructed we have proposed land allocations to help meet some of these needs. The sites are currently being considered by a Planning Inspector who will ultimately determine if these sites are allocated or not. Further dwellings will be needed in addition to these allocations to meet affordable needs and also local needs (i.e. local occupancy) therefore one of the functions of this group could be to establish ways to bring forward additional developments for new housing. Housing solutions should be community–led; not imposed from outside 25 Housing Action: Judith Derbyshire and Maddy Teasdale are in the Ullswater Housing Group. 1 They have recently agreed a letting policy for social housing with Eden District Council (see separate document). They are also reviewing sites for housing. This needs to be joined up. Housing actions to be taken forward through the existing group. LDNPA staff to support the Housing group in identifying suitable sites. Information: The school has 33 pupils however there is a need for funding for the nursery.
