2013-2014 elementary school menus
Think outside the lunchbox and encourage your children to choose school meals! They are
the best deal in town: $1.95 for lunch and $1.25 for breakfast. In addition to offering great
value, school meals are a huge convenience for busy families.
age-appropriate calorie limits
larger servings of vegetables and fruits
wider variety of vegetables, including dark green vegetables, red/orange vegetables
and legumes
fat-free or 1 percent milk

All Chesterfield County elementary schools offer breakfasts and lunches. The nutritional
integrity of school meals has always been a priority, and schools continue to work with
parents and the community to help children develop healthy eating habits. Chesterfield
County Public Schools is meeting the challenges set forth in the federal Healthy,
Hunger-Free Kids Act:

Ways to pay
•
•
Parents may send checks or cash to the school cafeteria, but they must include the
student’s name and student number. If you do not know this number, contact the
school’s cafeteria manager. Cafeterias cannot accept checks that combine meal
money with other school functions, such as field trips; the entire amount of the check
will be posted to your child’s meal account. Parents may write one check for multiple
students at the same school. Envision Payment Solutions handles checks that are
returned because of insufficient funds. A $50 fee is charged for each returned check,
plus the value of the check.
MyLunchMoney.com is an online system to track your child’s account balance and
add money using a credit or debit card. MyLunchMoney.com decreases the chance
of your child running out of lunch money and eliminates the need to send money to
school daily or weekly. Through MyLunchMoney.com, parents may view their child’s
account balance and purchases. To use this payment method, go to
MyLunchMoney.com and follow the directions.
Meals may not be charged at any school. (To keep students from going hungry, children
who do not have lunch money will receive a cheese sandwich and milk, then parents are
asked to send 60 cents to cover the cost of the milk.) There are three options to pay for
school meals:
•
Based on family size and income, students may qualify for free or reduced-price meals
under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. Families
are encouraged to apply for free or reduced-price meals; only one application
is needed per family. Forms are available in school offices, school cafeterias, at
mychesterfieldschools.com or by calling 743-3717. For the 2013-2014 school year, the
reduced fees will be waived so that students who qualify for reduced-price breakfasts
and lunches will receive them free.
Life-threatening allergies
Parents whose children have life-threatening allergies are key to the process of keeping
their children safe at school. Detailed information is available in the student health and
safety section of mychesterfieldschools.com.
