September Book Report
Due on: Friday, Sept. 27
For our first book report, students need to read a fiction book of at
least 60 pages. The focus this month is on characters. The students
will create a “Character Hanging” to describe the main character in
the book. They will also give an oral report to the class using their
character hanging as a guide.
Character Hanging Directions:
Materials:
*5 paper plates
*Yarn or string
Directions:
1. Plate one: Write the main character’s name and draw and color
a picture of him/her.
2. Plate two: Write the title of the book and the author.
3. Plate three: Write 3 character traits describing the character,
and write what they did to show that trait.
Example: Kindness: Debbie was kind because she helped the
other children during the storm.
4. Plate four: Write a 4 sentence summary of the book telling
what it is about.
5. Plate five: Write 3 or more sentences telling about your
