September Book Report Due on: Friday, Sept. 27 For our first book report, students need to read a fiction book of at least 60 pages. The focus this month is on characters. The students will create a “Character Hanging” to describe the main character in the book. They will also give an oral report to the class using their character hanging as a guide. Character Hanging Directions: Materials: *5 paper plates *Yarn or string Directions: 1. Plate one: Write the main character’s name and draw and color a picture of him/her. 2. Plate two: Write the title of the book and the author. 3. Plate three: Write 3 character traits describing the character, and write what they did to show that trait. Example: Kindness: Debbie was kind because she helped the other children during the storm. 4. Plate four: Write a 4 sentence summary of the book telling what it is about. 5. Plate five: Write 3 or more sentences telling about your favorite part of the book. 6. Punch a hole at the top and bottom of each plate. 7. Connect the plates by stringing the yarn/string through the holes. REMEMBER: NEATNESS COUNTS!
