How Hermione Granger Handles Frustrations Like everyone else, Hermione Granger gets frustrated sometimes. Before she started at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, sometimes Hermione lost control and would hit people out of frustration. Her teacher told Hermione, "Beware of the dark side. Losing control means ‘he who cannot be named’ may win. The dark side may win." Hermione learned to control her frustration in order to become a clever, good witch. Hermione still feels frustration, but she has learned to control her reactions and has learned to calm herself down. When Hermione feels frustrated, she stops, even if she really wants to hit someone. She uses her own ‘calm time’ method. Hermione still makes mistakes, but she is becoming a stronger good witch with the help of Harry and Ron. When Hermione gets frustrated she: Stops and takes a deep breath. Tells an adult, “I’m going to calm time.” Goes to her calm time space and reads or uses objects that make her feel calm. Thinks happy thoughts. Talks to an adult to work out a solution.
