Dear Parents
This Week’s Thunk
Is a toy car that no one has
ever played with still a toy?
After School Clubs
Our new member of staff James Denmark, who is our PE Specialist in school has arranged
to run some more after school clubs for the children. If your child is interested in attending
please come to the office to fill out a form in the usual way, places are limited so first come
first served. The clubs on offer are:Monday – Year 3/4 Boys and Girls – Basketball
Wednesday – Year 2/3 Boys and Girls – Tag Rugby
Thursday – Year 5/6 Boys and Girls – Table Tennis
Friday – Year 5/6 Boys and Girls – Football
The clubs will start from this Wednesday and will all finish at 4.30pm
Trips
We have arranged a few trips for some of the children in the next few weeks. Please see the
attached letters for children in Year 6 who will be attending an event called ‘Crucial
Crew’ at the showground on Thursday 24 September, then Year 3 are off to the
Castle on Thursday 8 October and Year 4 are going to the Castle on Wednesday
14 October, please return your permission forms and voluntary contributions as
soon as you can.
Kingswood
Most of Year 6 are going on a residential for three days to Kingswood on
Wednesday 30 September until Friday 2 October. We have planned a
meeting this week on Thursday 17 September to discuss final
arrangements this will take place straight after school in the Year 6
classroom. We have attached with this newsletter information regarding
what kit your child will need to bring to Kingswood, a permission form
and letter. Please complete the permission form and return it on Thursday at the meeting.
Breakfast Club
Can we just remind you that breakfast club starts at 8am and your child
should be there for this time, we begin cooking straight away and if your
child arrives too late there may not be time to cook and eat the breakfast.
You need to book your child in at the school office beforehand and we ask
for payment in advance, which costs only £1 per day.
Attendance
We have also attached a letter explaining the law that requires parents to ensure that their
children attend school regularly and the criteria for legal intervention and the issuing of a
Fixed Penalty Notice. Please remember that we are not allowed to authorise any holidays.
Extras and Reminders
Unfortunately swimming has been cancelled this week for
Year 4, the boiler needs repairing, hopefully this will be
mended in time for next weeks’ lesson.
Do not forget to return the photo/internet and local visits’ permission forms as soon as you
can.
We would also like to mention that there was an incident last week just as the
children were being picked up from school. One of our parents was speeding
outside the school and driving in an aggressive manner, putting other children
and parent’s safety in danger and our school lollipop lady was quite shook up by
this. There is a 20 mph speeding limit for a reason – please drive slowly.
Thank you for finding the time to read this newsletter
