No Apologies Small Group Notes Warm up: What was one principle from this Sunday’s sermon that stuck out to you? Dig In: Why does God reveal Himself to us? What is the knowledge of God supposed to produce in our lives? 1 Tim 2:4 2 Pet 3:18 Phil 1:9-10 Heb 10:26-27 Rom 11:33-36 Charles Ryrie – A full knowledge of God is both factual and personal. To know facts about a person without knowing the person is limiting; to know a person without knowing facts about that one is shallow. What is one way God has revealed Himself apart from the Bible? (Psalm 19:1-6, Rom 1:18-20) Where do you most clearly see God in creation? (e.g. beach, sunset) Here’s a simple argument for God’s existence (Cosmological Argument) 1. Whatever begins to exist has a cause (c:b) a. This is the law of cause and effect. No one with any common sense believes that something will happen without something that causes it to happen. A cake doesn’t happen without a baker. A ball doesn’t roll without a roller. 2. The universe began to exist (a:c) a. Scientists largely believe that the Universe did not always exist, but came into being at a point in time called the Big Bang. 3. Therefore, the universe had a cause (a:b) Tada! Can someone be converted by simply by presenting the right argument? Why or why not? What is an act of kindness you can do for someone who does not believe?
