1. Welcome and Introductions
Michelle welcomed everybody to the group, and thanked Thistle Healthcare for hosting this
meeting. Michelle took the opportunity to welcome new members and ensured
introductions.
2. Minutes from last Meeting and matters arising
The minutes of the last meeting were confirmed as accurate with no suggestions of any
amendment.
All agreed the minutes are now accepted and confirmed.
3. Collaborative Leadership Programme – Susan Nevill
Unfortunately Susan could not make the meeting however Lorna gave an update on the
programme so that members could think about this for their own organisations but also to
raise awareness across their own networks to get other members involved.
Lorna confirmed that the programme is free across all health and social care providers and
is targeted at Senior Leaders and Managers.
There are two parts to the programme:You as a Collaborative Leader
Is aimed at helping individuals recognise their own leadership strengths and sources of
resilience and how they can use these to lead more collaboratively and effectively in
delivering integrated care. Over 3-4 months, participants take part in coaching and
workshops to develop their understanding of people, contexts and systems that impact on
leadership actions, and learn about the behaviours and capabilities central to the vision and
values needed to achieve National Health and Wellbeing Outcomes.
Collaborative Leadership in Practice
Is aimed at pairs, trios or clusters of health and social care professionals who are working
collaboratively on the delivery of a locality-orientated project that supports integration. The
programme offers tailored support over a period of eight months to enable partnerships to
move forward effectively with a particular integration project or issue.
The first few cohorts have been a good mix however the last cohort has not seen as many
applications from social care that previous. The programmes have been evaluated
positively with individuals seeing real benefits. There is also access to the newly refreshed
360 degree feedback tool. If anyone is interested please get in touch with Susan Nevill
([email protected] ).

4. Workforce Planning Tool – Quick verbal update on developments
Lorna confirmed that the SSSC commissioned a piece of work to develop an on-line tool to
support the sector around workforce planning. The tool has been developed and SSSC
have confirmed that the next stage is to test this. Ali Upton (SSSC) is leading on this and
will organise some focus groups to take this forward. Further information will be sent to
CCPS and Scottish Care when available. It was agreed that the LRG could be used as a
focus group is necessary.
5.
Group to explore how Open Badges can be developed to support leadership
The LRG agreed at the last meeting to explore the use of Open Badges. Laura from Loretto
care gave an update to the LRG about how Loretto have developed open badges within
their organisation. Inductions now include a Step into Leadership badge which can be
achieved. The focus is based on the 6 leadership capabilities. This has been so successful
that this is now being rolled out across the other staff. Laura talked openly about how
successful this has been and how easy, simple and straightforward it was to develop and
that you don’t have to be that technically minded. This has led to other badges being
introduced and the plan is to continue to develop to support learning and development
activity to encourage self-directed learning. Laura confirmed that she would be happy to
discuss this with any provider to share her experience.
There was further discussion in the group and it was agreed that maybe we should develop
something which we could all use and really see the benefit. Further discussion led to idea
to develop a badge(s) around new SSSC of Practice with leadership as an underpinning
theme. It was agreed that we would invite Robert Stewart to the next meeting to facilitate
and that the meeting be dedicated to the development of specific criteria to support the
codes. Lorna agreed to speak with Robert to keep the date free.

downloaded as a PDF or you can just aim to work through section by section. It is
comprehensive and looks at how currently doing it, how could this be better and it
aims to address different approaches such as group, individual and professional
supervision.
