C O M P E T I T I O N
The 2008 Tasmanian Farm Photo Competition aims to highlight not only the impact of the drought on
Tasmanian agriculture, but to highlight the importance of agriculture to all Tasmanians.
The competition is open to all Tasmanian Residents* and consists of the following Divisions;
1. Tasmanian Primary Producers Division
*This category is only open to Tasmanian primary producers
(you must derive at least 50% of your income from primary production).
a) The impact of the drought
Highlighting the effect the drought has had on people, animals and/or the
environment. This can be either negative or an unexpected positive event.
b) Funniest Photo
Even in the worst times, there are some good times!
c) My Family
Highlighting how special our loved ones are to us.
d) My Country Town
Highlighting the importance of rural communities to our Tasmanian producers.
Photos should be submitted with a brief caption (no more than 100 words).
2. Tasmanian Community Division
This category is open to all Tasmanian residents
The topic for this category is ‘The impact of the drought on my community’.
Photos should be submitted with a brief caption (no more than 100 words).
All entries close on the 20th April 2008
Awards will be presented in May 2008 with an exhibition to follow. Selected photos will then travel through regional areas
as part of a travelling exhibition.

Judging
1. The Department of Primary Industries and Water ‘2008 Tasmanian Farm Photo Competition’ is free to enter and open to all Tasmanian residents, excluding members of the official judging panel,
employees of DPIW and Competition Coordinators.
2. Members of the competition committee, DPIW staff and sponsorship representatives will undertake judging.
3. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
4. The winners will be announced at a special presentation ceremony and also notified by post, telephone or e-mail.
5. Prizes are non-transferable and may not be redeemed for other substitutes. In the event that a Winner chooses not to accept the prize, they forfeit any and all claims to that prize, which will be dealt with
according to the absolute discretion of the Competition organiser subject to legislative requirements. All awards will be made at the discretion of the judges.
Conditions of entry
6. A photograph is not eligible to win more than one category.
7. Professional photographers are not eligible to enter.
8. DPIW reserve the right to substitute, terminate, withdraw, suspend or cancel any portion of the Competition and/or any component of the prize at any time, without notice, for any reason whatsoever in
their sole discretion. Winners and runner-up are responsible for any and all taxes payable as a result of a prize being awarded or received.
9. Only those photographs correctly identified and entered using the official competition entry form and abiding by these Terms and Conditions will be accepted for judging.
10. Printed photographs will not be returned unless accompanied by a stamped self-addressed envelope. Please do not send original images, as we are unable to return them.
11. Photographs shall not exceed A4 size - 210 x 297mm. Photographs do not need to be mounted.
12. All photographs must be entirely the owners own work and taken in Tasmania. Photographs can be either self-processed or commercially processed. Digital photographs entered must have a minimum
resolution of 300dpi. Digital manipulation is discouraged in fairness to those using film and alteration of subject matter must be kept to an absolute minimum for digital entries.
13. Photographs entered in all categories should be less than five years old.
14. Each photograph must be submitted with the completed official entry form, which can be found online at www.farmpoint.gov.au. There is no limit to how many times you can enter however each
photograph submitted must have a completed entry form.
15. DPIW may choose to display some or all photographs entered in this competition.
16. All efforts will be made to provide appropriate acknowledgment of the photographer whenever photographs are used for the purposes outlined in these Terms and Conditions.
17. The competition is divided into three divisions; Tasmanian Primary Producers, Tasmanian Community Division and the Tasmanian School Division.
18. The competition opens on the 1st January 2008 (TBC) and closes on 20th of April 2008 at 5.00pm for the all divisions. All entries must be received by this date; entries received after this date are not
eligible for inclusion in the competition.
19. School students in grades 11 and 12 as of the 1st of January 2008, may enter into the Tasmanian Primary Producers and Tasmanian Community Division, but are not eligible for the Schools division.
Students entering the primary producer division may only do so if their parents are primary producers (primary producers must derive at least 50% of their income from primary production)
20. All entrants release from, and indemnify the DPIW against all liability, cost, loss or expense arising out of acceptance of any prize(s) or participation in the competition including (but not limited to)
personal injury and damage to property and whether direct or consequential, foreseeable, due to some negligent act or omission or otherwise.
21. DPIW will not accept liability for any loss or damage occurring to any photographs entered in the competition.
22. Where a photograph entered in the competition includes the image of a person other than the entrant, then the entrant warrants that he or she has obtained all necessary permission from that other
person (or in the case of a child, that child’s parents or lawful guardian) for the image to be used in accordance with these Terms & Conditions. The entrant indemnifies DPIW against all damages, losses,
costs and expenses incurred by DPIW arising out of any failure by the Entrant to obtain the permission mentioned above.
23. These Competition Terms and Conditions may be changed at any time by DPIW without notice.
Privacy Statement: The personal information required from you to enter this competition will be used by the Department of Primary Industries and Water for this competition and not for any other
purpose. We will not disclose any personal details to any third party without your prior permission. Personal information will be managed in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act 2004 and
may be accessed by the DPIW employee’s competition organisers.
