Salary Adjustments on the September/October Paychecks
1. Who are eligible to receive salary adjustments on their September/October paychecks?
 Active employees under bargaining units AALA, A, D, J, S, and District-Represented will
be receiving salary adjustments. These adjustments are based on:
o 2% on-schedule retroactive payment beginning Jul 1, 2014
(AALA, Units A, J, S & District Represented).
o 4% on-schedule retroactive payment beginning Jul 1, 2014 (Unit D).
o 2% on-schedule retroactive payment beginning Jan 1, 2015
(AALA, Units A, D, J, S & District Represented).
o 2% on-schedule retroactive payment beginning Jul 1, 2015 (Unit D).
o The above increases will be offset by the rescission of the 13-14 one-time
payment received in 2014. (AALA, Units D, J, S & District Represented).
2. How will my current pay check be different from my last and future paychecks?
 Below is a hypothetical example by payroll area of how an employee’s paycheck will
vary.

Last Paycheck - Prior pay check is based upon the rates before the most recent
bargaining agreement.
Current Paycheck – Current pay check reflects the new bargaining agreement rates plus
retroactive pay adjustments for pay rate changes prior to current pay period.
Future Paycheck – Future pay check will reflect the new bargaining agreement rates but
will no longer include the retroactive adjustments.
The amount of the retroactive adjustments will vary based upon each employee’s work
hours.
3. What are the salary increases for 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years?
 Eligible active employees shall receive the approved wage increases contained in the
following links, which compare the prior bargaining agreements against the most recent
bargaining agreements:

4. How will the hourly salary rates be calculated?
 The new hourly salary rates will be calculated by taking the 2013-2014 hourly salary
rates and increasing them as shown in the example below:
 2013-2014 Salary Rate: $20.00
 2014-2015 Salary Rate Effective Jul 1, 2014: $20.0000 + 4% = $20.8000
 2014-2015 Salary Rate Effective Jan 1, 2015: $20.8000 + 2% = $21.2160
 2015-2016 Salary Rate Effective Jul 1, 2015: $21.2160 + 2% = $21.6403
 2015-2016 Salary Rate Effective Jan 1, 2016: $21.6403 + 2% = $22.0731
5. How will salaried monthly rates be calculated?
 The new salaried monthly salary rates will be calculated by taking the 2013-2014
monthly salary rates and increasing them as shown in the example below:
 2013-2014 Salary Rate: $8,000.00
 2014-2015 Salary Rate Effective Jul 1, 2014: $8,000.00 + 4% = $8,320.00
 2014-2015 Salary Rate Effective Jan 1, 2015: $8,320.00 + 2% = $8,486.40
 2015-2016 Salary Rate Effective Jul 1, 2015: $8,486.40 + 2% = $8,656.13
 2015-2016 Salary Rate Effective Jan 1, 2016: $8,656.13 + 2% = $8,829.25

7. How will the retroactive adjustments be reflected on my paycheck?
 The retroactive payment will be reflected in the “Prior Pay Adjustments” section of your
paycheck.

Sample hourly and salaried check stubs are included on pages 5 – 7.

If you are or were paid as a salaried employee, you will see the resulting difference in
your pay for each month (see page 5 for the salary paystub sample). The retroactive
increase will be labelled as A-, B-, C-, or E-Basis Salary.

If you are or were paid as an hourly employee, you will see the resulting differences in
the hourly rates for each month (see pages 6 – 7 for the hourly paystub sample).
8. As part of the prior agreement, I received an off-schedule 2% lump sum for 2013-2014.
What will happen to that payment?
 For those employees who received the 2% lump sum in 2013-2014, this payment will be
rescinded. This action will take place on the September 23, 2015 (Semi-Monthly),
September 30, 2015 (Classified Monthly) or October 5, 2015 (Certificated) paycheck.
9. I was a Unit C member for a portion of 2014-2015 and now I am represented by another
union or am district represented who is eligible for a salary increase. Am I entitled to
receive the wage increase for 2014-2015?
 Your wage increase will be applied, on a pro rata basis, according to the time you were
in any given bargaining unit during the year.
10. I was assigned to a non-A basis assignment in 2014-2015, i.e. B, C, or E basis, and I
worked during my unassigned days. Will I get the salary increase on my z-time and/or
overtime hours?
 Yes.
11. I am a retiree or am no longer employed with the District. Am I eligible to receive the
salary increases?
 The latest salary agreements are applicable only for active employees. Employees who
retired or resigned prior to the date the agreement was signed, are not eligible to receive
the salary increases. Please refer to the signed Memorandum of Understanding for your
collective bargaining unit (see link).

12. Will my Federal, State and any other applicable withholding tax be affected by the salary
increases?
 Taxes will be deducted in accordance with the applicable Federal/State rates based
upon your withholding tax exemption on file.
13. What do I do if I think my paycheck is incorrect?

 To ensure that you receive a prompt and timely response, please be sure that the

o The reason why you think your paycheck is incorrect
 A payroll specialist will review your paycheck and contact you at the number provided.
