VILLAGE OF ARLINGTON - NEWSLETTER JULY 2016 arlingtonwi.com or [email protected] ************************************************************************ AUGUST 9 ELECTION DAY The Partisan Primary will be held on August 9, 2016 at the Arlington Community Center from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please contact the Village Office if you have any questions. If you wish to check your voter registration or register to vote, please go to myvote.gov to make the appropriate changes. Don’t forget your proof of residence if you are registering and, most importantly, your PHOTO ID to vote. PRIVATE PROPERTY The Village is lucky enough to have some beautiful prairie lands around us. Unfortunately, this land is mostly private owned so it’s not open for residents to walk their dogs, let kids play, or dump yard waste without permission. Please be respectful of others property and don’t assume that because the road ends there, that it is open for your enjoyment; especially if it is barricaded (or was before it was damaged/stolen by someone). Private property is just that and we are requesting residents be respectful of others property. BUILDING PERMITS You may need a building permit if you plan to begin a project such as inside/outside construction, remodeling or installing a pool. Check with PJ at the Village office before starting your project. ARLINGTON’S FIREMEN’S FESTIVAL The festival begins on Thursday, August 4 and runs through Sunday, August 7 at Firemen’s Park. The festival website is arlingtonfiredept.com/Arlington_Festival.html. You can support the Department by attending, volunteering, or donating. The kiddie parade is Saturday with the big parade on Sunday at noon. ONLINE WATER/SEWER PAYMENTS Customers can pay their water/sewer bills online. Go to the Village website then Water/Sewer Utilities. Customers will be charged a convenience fee plus $1.00. Please note, your account may not be credited right away as there is a delay. Yes, the Village of Arlington Farmer’s Market is up and running once again! Monday’s 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. May – October Stop in and pick up your fresh produce and bread. The bread vendor will be supplying bread but will not personally be able to attend so if you have a favorite – contact Amy to make sure it’s here for you. We are currently looking for more vendors and volunteers. Do you love to stop at neighboring markets for the freshest of the fresh? Please remember to spread the word that we are looking for vendors here in Arlington. Amy Dolphin is your contact for anything Farmer’s Market. She can be reached by email at [email protected] , phone 228-3677 or LIKE and message her on Facebook at the Arlington Farmer’s Market page. GRASS MOWING When you mow your grass – please be considerate and keep the clippings off the street, sidewalk, your neighbor’s driveway and vehicles. DROPPINGS Believe it or not… I have to remind residents to pick up after their pets. There are a number of residents that think their pet droppings are acceptable to leave lying around. We really don’t like this. Please be considerate regardless if you are walking in the Industrial Park or on Main Street. We don’t want to see it, smell it, or step in it. ANIMAL ORDINANCES Section 7.06(b) of the Village Code prohibits animals from running at large in the Village. All dogs are to be leashed. Section 7.09(a) of the Village Code prohibits owners from allowing their pets to defecate on another’s property unless it is immediately removed by pet owner. Don’t forget, all dogs in the State of Wisconsin, must be licensed with proof of rabies. Please contact Village Hall for more information. HOUSE NUMBERS Section 6.16(c) requires building and house numbers to be affixed on the front of each building within the Village. Numbers should be at least 2.5 inches high and able to be seen by a person of ordinary eyesight on the public street. Please verify your home/building has a number that is easily visible for our local Fire Department and EMS should it be needed for yourself or one of your neighbors.
