I knew it was a valuable healing plant, but it was so prevalent in the garden that it made me very frustrated at first. What I got from sitting with Comfrey was “patience, stillness, and Love”, that I took to be a message. I tried to practise those feelings when I was in the garden. Then it came to me as ways I could distribute the excess plants, so I gave them away to people who wanted them for their compost, as nourishment for their garden, or for healing medicines that they made. I also left some in my garden for the bees and other flying beings to enjoy. I harvested some to make comfrey oil for herbal medicines and I added some to my own compost. By that time, I realized that I had heard the message and actually felt it too, when I was in the garden. I no longer felt the irritation that I had the “work” of dealing with Comfrey....I felt the gift of Comfrey, that benefitted me, as well as others who received the plants or its medicines. To me it seems like the Element of Comfrey is Earth, because of its powerful life force expressed by roots that can grow in almost the total absence of light and from just any piece of the root. It heals the structures of beings, like the skin and bones with its medicines 9.
