in-patient unit at St John’s Hospital, Livingston.

Within General Adult Psychiatric remit.
SUPPORTING SERVICES
1. Department of Clinical Psychology Department led by the Area Head of Psychology Services
based at Stratheden Hospital.
2.
Community Psychiatric Nursing Services General Adult - teams located in catchment areas
(2 teams in West Fife, 3 teams in central and 2 teams in North East Fife).

The Fife wide Occupational Therapy Service covers the 3 sectors in Fife and provides a
service to acute, rehabilitation and community for both over and under 65 year old patients. The
service includes assessment of functional capacity and deficit, therapeutic activity, specific
evidence based interventions and discharge planning.

Social Work Department (Fife Council) There is an MHO team, the mental health team and
the community care team. The Social Work Deparment commissions supporting people care
from a number of providers.

Specialist Pharmacy Services Specialist mental health pharmacy managers work closely with
clinicians, provide information to patients and carers and work on local protocols.
In April 2005, 3 Community Health Partnerships (CHPs) were established in Fife, one in
Dunfermline / West Fife, one in Kirkcaldy / Levenmouth and one in Glenrothes / North East Fife.
CHPs provide a focus for integration between primary care and specialist services and with social care
and their overarching objective is better health and better health outcomes for the communities they
serve.
The Mental Health Service in Fife is hosted by the Kirkcaldy / Levenmouth CHP. Some General
Practices in Glenrothes have attached Mental Health Nurse Practitioners or counselling services.
