Downloading and importing references from PubMed, OvidSP (Cochrane DSR, EMBASE, MEDLINE and
PsycInfo), CINAHL, Web of Science, SCOPUS and Google Scholar. April 2012
PubMed
In your search results, use the citation check boxes to select citations. To export all the citations do not select
any citations.
From Send to, select File.
Select MEDLINE from the format menu, click Create File.
Alternative: Select Citation Manager instead of File from Choose Destination, and save the file with a nbib
extension
Reference Manager
File > Import Text File
Choose database for import
Use import filter PubMed.cap
Locate the text file from PubMed
Browse for alternatives
Option: additional keywords
Choose Import
OvidSP: Cochrane DSR, EMBASE, MEDLINE and PsycInfo
Use Direct Export to export your refererences from a webpage into a Reference Manager database. Use the
same procedure for all OvidSP databases.
In your serach results, use the citation check boxes to select citations and click Export
In the dialog box Export Citation List:
Export To: Select Reference Manager from the list
Select Fields to Display: Complete Reference
Click on Export Citations
NB! Your RefMan database must be closed before the references can be imported into it.
Click Open in the dialog box File Download. Follow the further instructions.
CINAHL-EBSCO
Use Direct Export to export your refererences from a webpage into a Reference Manager database.
In your search result, use Add to folder to select references, or add all references from Alert / Save / Share
Go to Folder View
In Folder List: Click on Select All, click Export.
In Export Manager: Choose Direct Export to EndNote, Procite, CITAVI, or Reference Manager from Save
citations in a file formatted for. Follow the further instructions.
NB! Your RefMan database must be closed before the references can be imported into it.
Web of Science
Use Direct Export to export references from the webpage into a Reference Manager database.
Navigate to Output Records at the bottom of the webpage:
Step 1: Select references to include
Step 2: Use Full Record to include the keywords
Step 3: Choose Save to EndNote (Save tp EndNote, Reference Manager, or similar bibliographic management
tool)
Follow the further instructions.
NB! Your RefMan database must be closed before the references can be imported into it.
Alternative:
Select references to include, activate Marked List at the top of the webpage:
Select fields to include (step 2), choose Save to EndNote (Save to EndNote, Reference Manager, or similar
bibliographic management tool)

SCOPUS
Use Direct Export to export references from the webpage into a Reference Manager database.
In your search results, use the citation check boxes to select citations, and click Export.
From Output:
Export format: RIS format (Reference Manager, ProCite, EndNote)
Output: Complete format or specify field from Specify fields to be Exported
Click Export
Click Open in the dialog box File Download. Follow the further instructions.

Google Scholar
Export references directly from GS to a Reference Manager database. Click on Scholar-innstillinger to activate
the function.
From Bibliografi Administrator at the bottom of the page, select Vis linker til å importere sitater inn i and select
RefMan from the drop-down menu.
Click on Lagre innstillingene
IN GS:
Follow the Importer til RefMan link for the reference to import.
Follow the instructions, and select the Reference Manager database to import the reference into.
