Dear Families,
Gault Gives Back St. John School Application
To assist in fundraising efforts for our new playground Rob Duff submitted an application to the
Gault Auto Gives Back Program. We have an opportunity to earn $2500.00 to put toward
playground expenses.
To make this happen for SJE you need to vote on www.facebook.com/gaultautomall. You will
want to share the post on your Facebook page asking all of your followers to vote for you, this
will help your chances of winning.
If you have any questions about Gault Gives Back please contact Allan Eagles at 607-3216460.
Lunch With The Saints
Last Friday we had a great visit from our SC Saints Basketball Team. Alec Broschart, Leo
Gallagher, Matt Goodheart and Peter Hartrick had lunch with our children and played with them
on the playground. Everyone had a great time interacting. Members of the Girls' Basketball
Team will be here on Friday, January 20. Both of our teams are doing very well and I would
encourage our families to cheer them on at one of their games.
Saints Junior Fan Club
There are many ways that we can show support for our SCC Saints Basketball Teams. The
most obvious way is to come to their games and cheer them on with all of our heart. A new
Junior Fan Club is being organized at our home games that will make it fun for our younger
Saints. Admission is free for our young Saints and their “grown up” friends. Hopefully you can
make it to a game this year and cheer on your favorite Saint.
Re-Registration for 2017 - 2018 School Year
It is hard to believe that re-registration for our students for next year will be here very
soon. This process is new for me. One thing that I have heard that is sometimes a source of
frustration for families is that all of the paperwork has to be done separately for each child. I am
happy to announce that the registration process has moved into the age of technology. Reregistration for returning students will be able to be done on line. Much of the information will
already be populated using information from this year. It is hoped that this will make the reregistration process go much more smoothly.
Welcome to Mrs. Arnold - Art Teacher
As most of you know Mrs. Gilligan, our Art Teacher, is pregnant. She had hoped to work
until January 20 but the baby is not cooperating. Although her baby has not arrived yet, Mrs.
Gilligan's doctor requested she stop working earlier than originally planned. Fortunately, we
had made plans in December for her replacement. Mrs. Joanne Arnold, a retired Art Teacher
from the Binghamton School District will be substituting for her. She spent a day in December
shadowing Mrs. Gilligan and started with us on January 9. Please extend to her a warm SJE
welcome. We will keep you updated the baby arrives. Mrs. Gilligan plans to return later in the
year.
Catholic Schools Hockey Night
Last call for tickets for Catholic Schools Night at the Senators. The special game is Saturday,
January 21 and starts at 7:05. Call 722-SENS to get information about tickets.
Ski Club
Our first SJE Ski Club outing was on Sunday. Students and parents enjoyed a great
afternoon. If you were unable to attend, you are certainly welcome to go this Sunday. A great
big thank you to Mr. Duff for researching the costs and making the necessary arrangements.
Please refer to the information that was sent out last week by Mrs. Karen.
Green Tie Dinner
Please save the date – Our annual Green Tie Dinner will be Friday, March 10 from 6 to 10pm.
The dinner will be held at Traditions at the Glen. See attached.
Baptism at St. John the Evangelist
On Friday, Brianna Villanella, a second grader in Ms. Savage's class, was Baptized at Sts.
John and Andrew Church. The boys and girls from her class, along with Mrs. Newins' and Mrs.
Vaverchak's classes also attended. Brianna's grandparents were her god parents. Fr. Seibt
performed the ceremony to the joy of everyone present. It was a very special day for Brianna
and her family.
