THE OLYMPIAREGION
SEEFELD IN TYROL
A winter holiday to make you feel alive: the Olympiaregion Seefeld has perfected the art of
relaxation. Hardly surprising since it belongs to the »Best of the Alps« group and as such is one
of the exclusive holiday regions in the Alps. Treating your winter vacation as an all-round
experience for body, mind and soul is the philosophy behind the ‘Nordic Lifestyle’ concept with
its three themes of sport, leisure and motivation.
‘NORDIC LIFESTYLE’ IN PERFECT HARMONY
On a high plateau in the middle of the Northern Alps, lying at an altitude of 1.200 metres above
sea level, the resorts of Seefeld, Leutasch, Mösern-Buchen, Reith and Scharnitz promise their
guests sun-filled winter days and guaranteed snow. The best way to get to know this winter
paradise is on cross country skis. After all, Seefeld is regarded as the alpine centre for Nordic
sport. Additionally, there are 32 mountain lifts and 30 km of ski pistes for sun-spoilt skiers to
enjoy in this high mountain region. For the romantically-inclined, the 142 km network of wellmaintained winter walking paths is an open invitation to discover – and enjoy - the quieter,
natural side of this high plateau. Whether you are on the piste, the cross country trails or taking
a stroll, there is always somewhere pleasant nearby to enjoy some refreshment. Traditional
huts and cosy inns serve up typical alpine delicacies and back at the hotel you’ll find a luxurious
world of wellness waiting to help you relax. Or, if you prefer, you can wander through the
picturesque centre of town and enjoy some retail therapy in the up-market boutiques. For those
who want to place their bets on the Roulette, Black Jack or Poker table, the elegant Casino
Seefeld is the perfect location.
Perfect trails – sport world champion style
The Olympiaregion Seefeld is internationally known for hosting Nordic sporting disciplines. In
the past there were the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympic Games, the 2012 Youth Olympic Games,
and even now the sporting stars are often to be found on the trails and ski jumps in Seefeld.
This winter the absolute highlight of the season will be the Nordic Combined World Cup. Over
10,000 visitors are expected between the 27th and 29th of January 2017 when the top class
athletes compete for victory in the Casino Arena and on the Olympia ski jump. With 271 km of
perfectly prepared trails and the Nordic Competence Centre with its fantastic ski jumping
facilities, Seefeld leads in terms of quality and diverse training possibilities. Visitors can enjoy
top-class trails and even arrange for a cross country guide or book a biathlon course. And there’s
one date you should mark in your diary now: the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships are back
in Seefeld, this time in 2019!
Romance or Party: a busy time
The events in the Olympiaregion Seefeld are incredibly varied, ranging from romantic Advent
days and colourful Christmas markets to lively parties. Traditional handicrafts, tasty titbits and
festive concerts at the different Advent markets during weekends will make you want spending
Christmas in Seefeld, Leutasch, Mösern/Buchen, Reith and Scharnitz. Special events are for
example chapel hikes by torch light with singing and refreshments as well as concerts of local
choirs and music groups. The 3-day »Klingenden Bergweihnacht «, or ‘Harmonious Alpine
Christmas’, is one of the musical highlights and the star guests of this year, THE KASTELRUTHER
SPATZEN, perform at the gala night on 15th December. Down-to-earth, genuine and full of fun
are the reasons why the popular folksy rock’n’roller Andreas Gabalier is so hugely successful.
He will be rocking the Klosterbräu Arena at the »Winter Party Seefeld« on the 04th of March
2017.
