only expected to increase. So how
can we effectively make strategic
choices which balance the sense of
urgency of digital disruption with
the short-term need for return on
investment?
To seize current and future opportunities, companies are challenged to react
sooner rather than later. However, the
amount of information is immense, and
guidelines are often broad and unclear.

There is no such thing as digital
strategy, but everyone needs a
business strategy that considers how
to utilise digital opportunities. For this
reason, a list of how to digitalise an
industry is not a strategy. Stakeholders
need to agree on what would have to
be true for their business model to be
disrupted and develop a common
understanding of how to shorten the
strategy loop and continuously revisit
the “where-to-play” and “how-to-win”
choices, when conditions change or
opportunities arise.
