DFS TEAM TAKES ON SWIMATHON FOR BBC CHILDREN IN NEED
DFS colleagues were like ducks to water when it came to their fundraising efforts
as they donned yellow swimming caps and Pudsey ears for a sponsored
swimathon at Adwick Leisure Centre this week for BBC Children in Need.
Led by Simon Donovan, Web Operations Manager at DFS, colleagues swapped
their work clothes for swimsuits as they took on 100 lengths in just over one hour,
equating to a total distance of 7.5 kilometres.
So far, the DFS colleagues have raised more than £350 towards their £500 team
target thanks to the help of the extremely supportive local community.
Simon Donovan commented: “We were all delighted with the success of our charity
swimathon. We pulled out all the stops to make it a fun experience for everyone
taking part, and everyone seemed to have a great time”
“Giving back to the local communities in which we live and work is very important
to us so we hope to raise lots of money for BBC Children in Need. We’re so
thankful to all of our friends, family and the local community who have supported
us so far and we know the money will make a huge difference to the lives of the
children right here in Doncaster.”
This will be the second year that the retailer has been in partnership with BBC
Children in Need. Last year DFS raised a staggering £625,000 for the charity and
has pledged to raise £700,000 is total this year. Not only has DFS designed
exclusive BBC Children in Need cushions to sell in store, but the staff members at
DFS are constantly doing their part to fundraise through sponsored events.
