Tacoma Proposition 1 2013 General Election Facts and Information Sessions The City of Tacoma is planning facts and information sessions across the community designed to provide residents with facts and information about this fall’s Proposition 1 ballot measure. The November 5, 2013 Tacoma election issue asks voters to consider a proposal that would authorize the City to levy an additional 2 percent tax on natural gas, electric and phone company earnings for the sole purpose of funding basic Tacoma-wide neighborhood street improvements and safety upgrades. If approved by voters, the additional tax earnings would generate an estimated $10 to $11 million in sustainable annual funds for the basic maintenance of neighborhood streets, bridges and safety improvements.
