Coaches should try not to coach their own child’s position, with that in mind, no
favoritism toward specific players.
No aggressive physical contact with players.
No confrontational conversation with parents, refer or send them to the OYFL
Commissioner.
Let the assistant coaches coach. “Let them do their jobs”, you are the director. Follow
up with and ensure they are getting what it is that you want accomplished.
No alcohol, profanity, or tobacco – remember you are on school property and a role
model to these kids.
Make sure MPRs are done and all kids must play 10 plays
If a child states that he does not want to play – he must remove his shoulder pads and
helmet (If possible, get an assistant coach to let the parents know why their kid took
pads and helmet off and the head coach will meet with them after the game.)
All questions to the referees will be directed through the head coach. The head coach is
responsible for conduct of players, parents, and spectators.
Any coach can write a complaint about a player.
Be mindful of your surroundings. There is at least one parent watching you at all times
when you are dealing with their child.
