Appendix 1 – Providers of long-stay residential support

Appendix 1 – Providers of long-stay residential support
services on HSE’s behalf
As well as applying to services provided directly by the HSE, longstay contributions also apply to services provided by other agencies
on the HSE’s behalf in the following three circumstances:
1. Long-stay residential support services provided on behalf of the
HSE by the following service providers (often referred to as
‘section 38 agencies’):
 Brothers of Charity
 Carriglea Cairde Services, Waterford
 Cheeverstown House, Dublin 6W
 COPE Foundation, Cork
 Daughters of Charity
 KARE Central Services, Kildare
 Laura Lynn/Children’s Sunshine Home, Dublin 18
 Muiríosa Foundation, Kildare
 Peamount, Dublin
 St John of God Community Services
 St Michael’s House, Dublin 9
 St Patrick’s Centre, Kilkenny
 Stewarts Care, Dublin 20
 Sunbeam House Services, Wicklow
(In the above, where we have mentioned a county, this is the
location of the main office of the agency; services may also be
provided by that agency in other locations.)
2. Long-stay residential support services provided on behalf of the
HSE by a service provider not listed in Appendix 2 in:
 A public convalescent home
 A public nursing home (if the service user is not covered by
the Nursing Homes Support Scheme (Fair Deal))
 A public community hospital or other public hospital (for
example rehabilitation services, respite services or other nonacute services, such as when a service user has been
discharged from acute care but is still being looked after at the
hospital). Note, however, that long-stay contributions do not
apply to hospital out-patient services or acute care – such as
surgical procedures or short-term treatment for a severe
injury, a severe episode of illness or an urgent medical
condition.
3. Long-stay residential support services provided on behalf of the
HSE in a ‘contract bed’ (a service provided to a named service
user under a contract between the HSE and a service provider,
including a private provider).
