The Senior Citizen Liaison Team Charter
& Terms of Association and Appointment
Our Mission Statement
The aims of the charity are twofold; (i) The protection of the senior community
by education and information via the Public Presentation Team and
(ii) The advancement of senior community needs by means of the Social
Advocacy aspect of our work
“Our vision is to ensure that the unique needs of the senior community are
supported by our work. To provide tailored, appropriate education and
information to the senior community (and those that support it), in order to
protect them from crime and support their safety, wellbeing and quality of
life”
Corporate Identity
All members of the charity and the relevant teams will be expected to
demonstrate the required quality of service, behaviour and to support the
image and aims of the SCLT at all times.
The distinct quality of the SCLT requires us to be independent and free from
outside influences or control. While we will work closely with partner agencies
and services, it is vital that we are separate and distinct from those
organisations, and any advertising by, or mention of their work or business is
clearly shown to be separate from the SCLT and not endorsed by us.
No contact with existing or prospective organisations, individuals or groups
etc. will be done using any medium that bears any links to any service, group
or organisation other than the SCLT. Private email addresses and telephone
numbers are acceptable in addition to any allocated SCLT email address but
addresses, email or telephone contact that is from or may include identifiers
to other organisations or services i.e. pnn.police.uk will not be used for any
form of SCLT communications to any source outside of the charity.
Our work with the police services, the Civil Service etc. and the inclusion of
volunteers from those organisations in our teams will equally need to be
distinct and any work undertaken by the SCLT in terms of presentations etc.
by any of those volunteers will be done completely in the volunteers own
time (or in time given by respective organisations specifically for non-police
charity or voluntary work) and will not show or represent those organisations in
any way unless expressly authorised (in advance and in writing by the board
of trustees).
The dress code will be adhered to at all times and at all functions, events or
presentations etc. This will be SCLT logo’d shirts (with no additions or
alterations to the cresting) or lounge suits and corporate ties and SCLT pin.
No presentations or representing duties will be undertaken wearing any
uniform of any other organisation or service or any part thereof.
Advertising
No representation of affiliation, endorsement or connection will be made by
or to any other group, organisation, product or service by any member or
other person without the express permission of the board of trustees.
Any link to the SCLT charity, website or work etc. from any 3rd party source will
be required to show clearly that the SCLT is a charity and not affiliated or
linked in any way to the source of that link.
Publicity
No publicity will show, represent or imply that any of the members or those
representing the SCLT at any event are also members of the police service,
support officers, Civil Service or any other Government agency etc. without
the express permission of the board of trustees. The only exception to this will
be publicity by organisations that is wholly internal and unable to be viewed
or reproduced in any way that could be visible to any open source search
facility.
This is a security requirement to ensure the safety of the representatives,
members of the charity and their families.
Integrity
Anyone wishing to represent or join the charity will be required to comply with
all of the terms of the charter at all times. The integrity of the charity and its
ability to provide the service to the community it serves is dependant on the
continuing trust and support of the senior public and those that support it.
The control, direction and work of the charity is determined by the board of
trustees and no external influence or control from any other organisation or
service will be accepted in the delivery of the service or the aims of the SCLT.
Any donation made directly or indirectly as a result of any work or event
undertaken by any SCLT member or representative, or any other gratuity
(beyond ordinary hospitality such as refreshments while at events etc.) MUST
be appropriately declared and receipts completed as necessary. Any out of
pocket expenses etc. that are reimbursed MUST be declared to the SCLT
treasurer.
While it is accepted that many of the members are also employees or
appointees of the police service or Government agencies it is vital that those
organisations accept the unique and independent work of the SCLT. No
control or influence by those organisations will be accepted other than in
terms of a generic policy of behaviour which would be applicable to all
relevant partner agencies.
Anyone wishing to work for or in partnership with the SCLT is required to ensure
that both they and their employer or organisation are fully aware and
accepting of these terms. Any use of, or implied association with, the SCLT, it's
logo, materials, name, works or any other aspect of the charity, including
images or awards will be dependant on the full acceptance of these and
any other terms considered relevant by the board or trustees.
Any
unauthorised use of any aspect of the SCLT name or works will be subject to
legal action.
Summary
The SCLT is a charity. It is independent and completely separate from any
other organisation, agency or service. No one representing the SCLT in any
capacity may do so in any way that may be inferred or interpreted to be as
a member, on behalf of, or in the interests of any other organisation, agency
or service. To do so will compromise not only the unique nature of the charity
but also possibly the status of the charity itself.
The only exception to this will be where equipment required for presentations
or events etc. may have been provided as a result of 3rd party funding
(subject to approval by the board of trustees) and a condition of that
funding is to display appropriate markings describing the identity of that
benefactor. This will not apply to dress or uniform. Only Approved SCLT
uniform is to worn for any event or presentation.
Any volunteer working in any capacity whatsoever as a representative of the
SCLT will be under the direct control and supervision of the SCLT board of
trustees and no other organisation, group or service for the duration of that
service or representation. This will be in addition to any generic policies
governing standards of acceptable behaviour from any organisation, group
or service with whom the volunteer has any form of employment.
