If the reservoir is infested, the quagga mussel will ruin the ecosystem in the reservoir affecting the fishery and the recreation areas will be ruined. Additionally, the pumps and infrastructure will be completely destroyed. Please do your part to keep Jackson Flat Reservoir mussel free. After leaving a body of water: clean, drain and dry your watercraft. If Governor Gary Herbert Visits KCWCD Office Building Governor Gary Herbert visited Kane County in April 2017 and toured the region. One of his stops was at the KCWCD office for a luncheon and an update on the well being of the state and county. When asked about the progress on his statewide initiative to reduce per capita water usage by 25% by the year 2025, Herbert said, “We are right on track. Campaigns like Slow the Flow, Save H20, are a big part of that.” Announcements you have been in infested waters, please get a decon on your watercraft or wait the appropriate dry time. (DRY TIMES: winter-30 days, spring & fall-18 days, summer-7 days) For questions or concerns, please contact KCWCD. Board Meetings Holiday Closure Office Hours 07/13/17 – 7:00 pm Indep. Like our Facebook at Kane County Water Conservancy District Recycle Water KCWCD is running a water conservation incentive this summer. July, August and September are months where we see high water usage from customers. Because people tend to use more water during these months, we see more water being wasted as well. KCWCD is committed to conserving water for future use. The top two customers that save the highest percentage of water from July, August and September in 2016 to the same summer months in 2017, will win their choice of a rainwater harvest barrel or a $100 credit toward their bill. Of course, KCWCD would love to see the winners select the rainwater harvest barrel in order to recycle water for outdoor use on your properties, but understand if you take the money! Simply hook up your rain gutter to your new barrel and start saving water and money by using the rain water collected in the barrel on outside use like water vegetation, washing off your sidewalk or driveway, and cleaning vehicles. The barrel has a spigot at the bottom to get your water from or simply attach a hose for use. Visit our website at www.kcwcd.com and click on the conservation tab to learn more about water conservation, the 20 gallon challenge and water saving tips. 2 SUMMER 2017 3 SUMMER 2017 4 SUMMER 2017 5
